Shadow Priest is bad in Arena

Weak CC + Moderate Damage + Low Mobility + Hard Cast Everything + Moderate Survivability

High end? Yes. Playable? Somewhat.

When people finally find out all your damage comes from getting Halo off, and then spamming MF:Insanity, you get shut down hard. Most of my SS games this season started out 3-0, and then ending 3-3 once they realized training me was the obvious choice, because SP just literally can’t do anything once we get trained

On a more constructive note, here’s my feedback of what we realistically need. We don’t need all of them, but most would be nice:

  • Halo needs to be instant cast
  • Our DA or VF needs to be instant cast
  • Shadow Word Death needs to do more damage to the target, than to me. (It doesn’t)
  • Interrupt baseline (for all Priest specs)
  • Psychic Horror baseline
  • Too many 2/2 talent nodes and pathing that is CLUNKY, honestly don’t even want to go down this rabbit hole because there’s endless feedback in here
  • DP Needs about a 25-50% damage increase OR SW:P and VT need the same (Do both please)
  • An easier way to get our DOTs on people, or better dispel protection. Games where a Holy Pally was dispelling every chance he got, I was literally just casting Vampiric Touch the entire game trying to get DOTs rolling, which goes into my next problem…
  • Our Mastery is designed around having our crappy dots up. Please give us a new Mastery
  • Mindgames needs to be baseline or buffed significantly
  • Mind blast damage buff by 50-100%
  • Mobility CD besides Feather and speccing into Body and Soul OR, since they want something unique, maybe a 30 sec cd where we fly into the Air (Instant cast) and can free cast for 4 seconds while moving if it’s off the GCD; and 5 seconds if it’s on the GCD. (We can still take damage but can’t be silenced). (temu version of Evoker flappy)
  • Shadowfiend is the most worthless 3 minute CD in the game

The amount of suggestions are endless on here though, like I said

I agree with everything said here. If they aren’t going to rework this clunky and rage inducing spec, these are all great changes they could make to make the spec far more enjoyable in current iteration.

Definitely GREAT suggestions considering how awful this spec feels to play; would definitely make our lives a little better having at the very least instant halo & VF/DA

Re: mobility options, I’d love to have spectral guise back in some capacity. (why BOTH our mobility options as talents?)

It really is the most worthless 3min bind in the game. Generates maybe 15 insanity? No damage, no slow, no leech, no interrupt, no nothing. Like just enough insanity for one devouring plague :joy:

It also does a bit of damage… but the Shadowfiend itself can be cc’d.

Think about that one.

If you play with a melee partner, you’re the target. In fact if you play with anything besides lock, you’re the target and even then, you’re still the target about 50% of the time. I guess if you’re playing with a mm you wouldn’t be the target, but that’s really only a random shuffle pairing.

We’ve all said this 1000x: if we’re the last remaining caster in the game (mm uninterruptible), our numbers should be big. We cast. We have poor spell protection.

If we can’t have instant VF/DA, along with instant Halo /void blasts, then we should get some pvp tuning to buff these numbers up significantly. Same with sw:death. It’s mind blast damage. Its nothing.

everyone has utility now. everyone has robust kits now. Shadow’s niche isn’t niche anymore. I don’t think we should worry about what buffs would do to the top of the ladder, when the other 99.5% shadow priests are having to sweat way more than so many classes that are all tuned / developed for modern wow environments
