Shadow priest in torghast?

I despise Mort’regar and Soulforges.
Mort has the magic damage increase, the banshee adds that hit like a truck, the trash on the ground after things die, the floors where you port or rope-swing around and it drops you right into 3-4 mobs.
Soulforges has those caster adds that are high on caffeine spamming 0.5 second fire spells at you, or the anima powers seem to veer towards buffing your Mind Control which is pointless when you’re taking 8-9% of your health every 5 seconds.
I mean I get it done but still, make you work for it.

The best damage powers I’ve found are +health or stamina percentage, then life barrier combined with reflective barrier

You just stand there while everything kills themselves. I was spamming 89k barriers with 150% reflection yesterday. I just ran through making sure to keep my shield up. Everyone died

It got to a point where my damage rotation was a waste of time. Dealing 4k damage to a mob with 2389k health is worthless when my shield is reflecting 20k+. I just kept barrier up and focused on mechanics with the occasional dps.

You really need to get those ravenous cells, using them on a certain mob, I think fire elementals, gives 65% fire resistance.

And yes power word shield and reflect can be super good…but it’s also terrible gameplay design…one of our best builds is to cast one spell and let thorns slowly let the enemies beat themselves to death?

Yea in Mort’regar if you have 250 anima at the Level 3 vendor, get a Ravenous Anima Cell and throw it at pretty much any Mawsworn or Fire Elemental to get -65% Fire Damage taken, which not only nullifies the zone-wide aura damage, but turns all the fire adds into a joke.

Even over-geared as I am i still often throw my anima at that, because it lets you turn your brain off for what should be the hardest floors.

i don’t mind soulforges because it’s usually not tough to survive until you can pick that up, and there’s enough phantasma to do so easily.

i’ve had mort runs where the first platform i jump to has two of the chorus guys spamming death chorus at me, plus a devil, plus a couple smaller adds. i just bail on those runs, it’s pointless. phantasma is also sparse there depending on what platform levels you get… i’ve had runs where i’m barely over 300 phantasma at floor 3, and then i’ve got to spend 250 on the ravenous cell. forget it!

I hate this game some times.

Although I wanted to play shadow, I finally just went discipline…and here’s the run I had a million health for.

Funny thing is that spec doesn’t even really matter…although you can cast more shields with the mana if you’re in discipline spec.

Torghast is way easier as disc. Some of the powers can stack up and give you ridiculous damage as disc, plus obviously disc is tanky and you don’t have to worry about incoming damage.

There are a lot of good disc combos, but there’s an epic power that gives you damage based on your health and ones that increase your health % or have fort increase your health by a higher % are common. If you stack those you can 1 shot everything. One run I started off with that epic power and just stacked health the whole run and 2 shot the last boss on an 8.

Even without that epic power though, disc has other good combos like stacking catharsticks with the one that makes your purge the wicked always critically hit, and can add painwheel to that.
