Shadow Priest Changes Miss the Mark a Bit

One of Shadow’s primary weaknesses is the amount of dots Shadow Crash Applies DoTs to and the Psychic Link Damage. Giving shadow crash two charges is great and reducing the CD is also great. But, reducing the number of targets it applies to feels wrong.

Yes we can now hit 12 targets in 2 GCDs to apply Dots to as opposed to 8 with 1 GCD. And with the 15sec CD we can reapply quicker in low target instances. But now we have to wait 30 seconds if we need to reapply to a large pack, with VE lasting 21 seconds.

So we are hitting that same pain point as affliction Lock. Where we either have 9 seconds with no dots on a large pack, or manually apply them, then as we finish that, the 2 charges are back up.

I want to be optimistic, but from what I can see, the new talents add more cleave, but dont do anything to address Shadow’s main problem in M+ and that was Applying DoTs in order to AoE with Psychic Link.

Voidweaver Shadow feels great to play right now. The synergies are there. It is highly thematic and the spell effects are also great. Just increase the number targets hit by shadow crash and increase its radius.

It likely won’t ever be optimal to use both Shadow Crashes back-to-back since you should be having 3-4 VTs out when Fade-pulling with the tank anyways, and you don’t need more than 12 out.

That’s just wrong. Changing the target application to 6 makes it so we will be double casting often. And with the 15sec cooldown that means half the pack won’t be dotted later on if it lasts for any normal amount of time.

The 2 charges is good, the target reduction is bad.

The drop to 6 combined with the removal of unfurling darkness is a 1-2 punch that is going to make dotting up a pack feel terrible
