I’m perplexed as to why these aren’t a glyph, a shadowform visual replacement, or a priest toy like shaman’s old skill toys.
I’ve recently started leveling my first caster (spriest) since I started in Cataclysm and was super excited to get the shadowy birds I remember seeing in MoP glyphed for aesthetic purposes only to find out that Shadow Orbs/Ravens were outright removed and never given a way to put them back in anywhere.
This genuinely feels like a perfect candidate for the glyph system.
Been asking for the birds ever since they removed it.
It was such a shame, because we all saw them on the Scarlet Raven Priests in Wrath and said “Oooo want!!!” … and it was one of those shocking, rare instances where Blizz actually gave us what we asked for.
It’s so true. I recall my first time running into those shadow priest with ravens NPC like it was yesterday and instantly became jealous and wanted them.
Then we got shadow orbs in Cata. I think it was in MoP we got the glyph to turn orbs into ravens… but it might have come later in cata? I can’t recall exactly.
Then once again come Legion… shadow as it was for over a decade was tossed into the trash bin for the absolute butchery that is Voidform crap ushered in and to this day still we are paying for. Ever since then it seems almost every content patch, shadow is changed because it just is not working in one or more aspects of the game.
Yet prior to Voidform, shadow worked pretty well in any content you choose as you had an option… something you bring to the table to be competitive.
Even before we really got all the tools we needed come wrath, in BC being a mana battery was fine imo. And in classic… well in naxx shadow was more accepted due to better mana pools by then.
