Shadow form buff but no buff to Moonkin?

Shadow form was already insanely strong in pvp in era. Now it will be strong in PvE and even stronger in pvp. (Now that it is immensely more mana efficient)

What about Moonkin? This form was considered a joke in era and remains unchanged. Can we look into incentivizing this form/making it useful in SoD? Maybe add a 15% spell damage reduction for the form (spell damage equivalent to shadow form) instead of the + armor that is borderline useless?

Well, we know now that they CAN do it.

Maybe they are just waiting for people to test the changes and see feedback?

EDIT: They are also afraid of the Big Fat Laser Chicken Meta

I really don’t see how Boomkin remains competitive moving forward. Shaman, lock, rogue, mage and Paladin will all be globaling people in phase 2.

Spriest will be single-round-dot-killing every class in the game that can’t dispel or heal at 40

Rogue and warrior will be insanely mobile.

Bro what about repentance? :skull: Hopefully they change both talents soon.

Shadow Form only provides selfish gains, Moonkin is a very good raid aura and Wrath is literally free.

Reduction in shifting cost, a better reason to click the ability since the +armor is relatively negligible (maybe turn it into a flat DMG reduction, but maybe against spell DMG to act as a kind of shadow form equivalent)

Maybe allow instant healing touches to be cast while in form or allow regrowth to be used in form.

Otherwise, you’ll essentially have boomkins with instant healing procs that simply never get used

15% spell damage reduction is a great idea

I feel like 360% damage reduction isn’t negligible, that’s the same amount as Direbear. A properly geared Boomkin can get to 50-60% damage reduction which allows you to easily kill warriors and rogues (well it did for me in TBC)

I reckon give them a bigger crit bonus, but only for themselves. Kinda like Heart of the Lion how the hunter gets 20% but everyone else gets 10%

I’d be fine with that as well.

Maybe the armor bonus will be solid in SoD once they address itemization for Boomkin. In era, boomkin - unless they went for Rank 13 gear - was almost never in full leather (and if they were, their DMG was terrible)

Meme post right? Balance is going to body people. Pve its prolly going to be mid but, it is what it is.

  1. Balance will actually be able to get gear, even if you just play as resto and swap to Balance for PvP, its going to have +spell power items, which is a huge QoL boost from Vanilla.

  2. Starsurge Benifits from most starfire / wrath talents so, its going to get a fatty 100% increased crit damage buff on top of a flat 10% damage incrase

  3. Omen of Clarity is 30 min now, a nice QoL change, but it also means you’ll prolly have it up for most Wpvp encounters.

If you RNG into Starfire proc you can prolly delete someone in like 3 globals while keeping them at bay, if not NG and try again.

Im happy giving Oomkin some sort of mana regeneration but it needs nothing in PvP, it already has one of the best MU spreads of any spec.

What? No one runs Omen of Clarity in PvP, lol. And why would a free mana proc allow you to delete someone faster…?

Sorry, its super early I didn’t mean Omen proc, I meant the Starfire proc (the stun) Im also posting about feral stuff and just jumbled my words. Fixed above.

the big one is starsurge benefits from lunar and solar eclipse and I see no mention that this version of eclipse cannot have both active at the same time

boomkin with conc aura or eshield is going to be able to turret way more than other classes imo. 100% anti pushback with eclipse passive and either of those.

The biggest buff boomkins need is astral form

Curious to see if it has any interaction with Surge, if not Eclipse might be mid, I know speculation on it was that you would have to downrank Starfire’s to make it effective, but then the damage increase to wrath isn’t enough to make up for the damage loss in downranking…

No clue whats going on there, I don’t play Balance much.

no idea either but you can do a starfire a wrath and presumably have 1 charge solar and 1 charge lunar for starsurge +60% crit chance

This overly simplistic view of “x class got buffed therefore Y should aswell” needs to stop. You need to look at classes wholistically, their kits, mana consumption and utility all wholistically. Spriests were not good in PVE and this doesn’t really “fix” that. They did well in original vanilla 1v1 PVP, but that’s now very different also.

We don’t know where things are going to land next phase. Let’s wait until we do before we demand buffs and changes.

Keep in mind the armor was not that great originally because there wasn’t a ton of caster leather or items with armor bonuses.

It is related to the fact that Moonkin form is traditionally viewed as semi-useless. Shadow form was always S tier in PvP and received a buff. It is also the final talent point in a class’ tree that provides a “form”. If that can be improved, Moonkin ought to be improved as it needs it.

Spriest is currently set to be THE PvP spec in P2. Priest dominated P1 and that is going to continue into P2 and potentially be even worse.

“shadow priests take 15% reduced phys damage in shadowform, that’s op”
“moonkin +armor is borderline useless”

spoiler: they do the same thing
