Shadow fiend vs. Power word solace? But I have +26% fiend attack speed

So I am planning to mostly disc priest and I’ve come across this conundrum with talents. Choosing between the two options shadow fiend and power word solace.

Power word solace seems great for mobility.

Shadow fiend however seems pretty bonkers and turns a 3m cd into 1m.

Not to mention I now have a conduit that makes my shadow fiend attack 27% faster (the item level 200 conduit-- idk if higher exists. Just got it last night from a +15 key).

Does that conduit even impact disc priest’s shadow fiend?

What conduits should I even go… but here I am slamming multiple questions into one thread again x_x;;;

I’ve gotten VERY conflicting answers and icyveins and wowhead aren’t discerning m+ vs. raiding. All of the suggestions seem raid focused.

Eg: I don’t want spirit shell during m+. But they recommend it as the first conduit…

Yes.
Anyway, If It’s not Grevious week you should play Solace…or stay Mind bender, It’s just preference.
You should go for Shining Radiance…and whatever conduit you want if you play Solace. For Mindbender, it’s Rabid Shadow.

Shining Radiance and Rapture conduit are strong for a Solace build.
Mind Bender and Shadow fiend are good for greivious, as is Shadow Covenant talent

It should be noted, Mindbender gives less mana back per attack than Shadowfiend, hits for less damage and lasts for less time. In overall mana gains, Mindbender is flat less than taking Solace and using Shadowfiend. It’s also worth noting that because its duration is so low, you actually don’t get that many extra attacks out of it without fairly high haste.

You should take mindbender if you find you need AoE healing consistently. It’s better than solace in the scenario that your party keeps needing AoE heals, but it underperforms Solace in every other way. This is why people tend to like it during grievous week.

For dungeons:
Shining Radiance is the only necessary conduit - people tend to pick different things for their second conduit. The best ones are probably Swift Penitence or the Mindgames conduit in dungeon content. Exaltation is also fairly good (though no, you shouldn’t take Spirit Shell. The effect on Rapture is still decent).

In Raid:
Exaltation with either Mindgames conduit or Rabid Shadows. Since you’re pumping everything into your SS.

Shining radiance is nice for M+ but once you have the gear and flow, I recommend shattered perception + rabid shadows.

I started testing it today and it hella slaps, for real.

edit: I also like saving the GCD’s and with about 29% haste mindbender is super nice, I really prefer it over solace + shining radiance for prideful and I feel like my mana is way healthier, I often don’t need to drink anymore in 16/17s with this combo.

It doesn’t hit hard enough to matter, a defensive penance will always have more value if you need a large heal while moving.

It will hit less hard, but having a 1 minute pseudo triple purge the wicked combined with rabid shadows conduit feels nice.

Here’s the 411 if you’re comfortable on disc and you have enough haste to not have throughput issues. Try it out and see how it feels.

Assuming you’re venthyr: General draven, shattered perceptions, rabid shadows, stand your ground. TOF, Masochism, Mindbender, Shining Force, Sins of the Many, Purge the Wicked, Lenience.

If you have questions, please ask, I’m not the best disc priest on earth but I got some moves.

Rabid shadows is generally a fairly weak conduit in M+. It adds very few attacks to mindbender without PI, and even with PI it’s something like 3?

Not to mention I wouldn’t really recommend Mindbender in dungeons anyway. Ultimately, do what works for you. But Mindbender is strictly less mana regen than Solace, and dungeons simply don’t require the AoE healing that is mindbender’s niche.

I find it to be a very useful non-cd for every pride allowing me to preserve rapture, barrier et al for a huge pull afterwards. I guess it’s preference at that point.

Yeah I just hold SF for prideful if I’m worried. It’s a much stronger healing CD (lasts longer, does more damage even considering conduit) at the tradeoff of being up less.

And pulling with pride buff I’m OK with just having infinite mana and spamming if the tank does anything crazy. :stuck_out_tongue:
