Shadow dance

When I use Shadow dance, and the 3 second stealth talent as well, I’m taken to the stealth action bar. I absolutely hate this beyond reason. Especially shadow dance as I have to put my all my dps abilities ALONG with the stealth ones in the stealth bar. This makes no sense for pve. I get the slight pvp appeal of this feature but it just doesn’t work for pve/dps.

Normally I would have stealth stuff bound to keys 1 to 5 in stealth bar and my combat abilities also bound 1 to 5 in the combat bar. But this design forces me to put all my combat abilities in my stealth bar.

Can’t I just stay in combat bar during shadow dance? I could simply add shadow strike to that bar instead of adding everything to the stealth bar. Look, I love piano. I first started playing when I was 5. But when I play WoW I have no interest in playing piano on my computer keyboard.

Believe it or not. Unless something has changed you have to just keep using Shadowdance and waiting for the bar to appear and quickly put your abilities on it LOL. At least thats what we did when it was first introduced.

Newer rogues take a while to get used to this mechanic. After a while it becomes far more preferable.

You memorize keybinds for both stealth and out of stealth. I’d recommend putting night blade and eviscerate on both bars with the same keybind so you can spam the key in either state.

I put shadowstrike and backstab on the same keybind as well. Anything that you can spam hit your keyboard without it wasting resources. For instance kidney shot is not the same binding as cheap shot.

I normally match my stealth bar with unstealth bar. I leave the shadow dance out of it tho

My finishers are on my top left action bar, thus never change.
Other than a few moves, my out of stealth and in stealth bars are nearly the same, as there are some out of stealth moves I want to do from stealth. (kick, throw, bomb, cloak as an example)
I also make use for all the actionbars and all are setup with hotkeys. So really only…12 out of 60 change.

My main bar setup, that swaps.
------ In Stealth ----------------------- Out of Stealth
1 = Cheap Shot--------------------------Backstab
2 = Shadow Strike----------------------Backstab
3 = Shuriken Toss----------------------Toss
4 = Shuriken Storm--------------------Storm
5 = My alternate Sap Macro-------nothing atm / whatever
6 = Shroud -----------------------------nothing atm / whatever
7 = Blind----------------------------------blind
8 = Kick-----------------------------------kick
9 = Cloak---------------------------------cloak
10 = Vanish------------------------------vanish
11 = ShadowStep---------------------step
12 = Sap---------------------------------stealth

Sub Rogue does not have many in combat abilities anyway?!? Be like me and use your out of stealth bar the same as in stealth bar

As an ARCT concert pianist in RL, I understand the analogy, but sub rogue doesn’t have much to change in terms of utilizing Shadow Dance as an ability and how it differs on the action bar.

The only thing I change up is cheap shot and back stab take eachothers keybind. I also macro stealth with vanish on the same button so that out of combat I stealth, and during combat I use vanish instead.

Basically nothing changes on my bar so my keybinds stay stright forward and simple.

My stealth, dance, and normal actionbar 1 are completely identical to avoid any kind of stance lag, or mispress of a key due to exiting / entering stealth or dance.

like say, gouging a target I meant to vanish and sap.

Back in the past when we had more buttons to manage. I used stance modifiers to put backstab and ambush on the same button. which freed up a button for hemo, without the risk of backstabbing during shadow dance, or out of stealth.

I wish I could find that macro, not that I have a use for it anymore.
