Shadow Crash Bug?

I just noticed in a dungeon I was doing today that Crash might not have put dots on the mob I targeted with the spell? I know they changed the target limit to 6, but in the pack I noticed a bunch of mobs got dots except the one I was targeting.

Has anyone else noticed this? or maybe I saw incorrectly?

It prioritizes applying dots to targets that don’t have them already but doesn’t prefer targets for any other reason, including your current target. The lower target cap makes it more obvious.

You want to be dotting targets manually until they’re gathered and then use Shadow Crash to avoid it missing.

There are several bugs to do with Shadow Crash’s DoT application logic. Double crashing sometimes causes targets to get redotted over dotting new targets, Crashing a pack with more mobs than crash can dot but less undotted mobs than crash can dot leads to crash partially ignoring the priority of undotted targets.

Shadow Crash is a mess, but you have enough of them that you can kinda get by.

Sounds like the talent choice that auto casts on your chosen target still mechanically functions like the reticle version of the talent.

blizzard is inept

this “fix” makes it so that the spec is quite, literally borderline unplayable in pvp

This is insane… Ive noticed you also have to be facing them for when it actually lands?.. meaning you have to follow that bulb through the air and make sure your facing your target by the time it lands 3 seconds later or it breaks los.

No way. Gross!

Still bugged, simply skips applying dots whenever it feels like it, even on 3-pack target dummies. We got 2 charges, but only works 75% of the time.

Oh yeah, still buggy as **** approaching the Midnight pre-patch. For funsies I’ll occasionally try launching a Crash at a single mob, standing by itself, to do the pull. It’s the fire-at-current-target version of the spell.

Lands, does some damage, applies no dots at all.

FYI. The new version, Tentacle Slam, is still broken. So most likely it will stay broken for all of Midnight and beyond until they decide to redesign shadow for the 500th time and delete the ability.

Tentacle Slam still has the line of sight bug that started in 11.2 (August 5th 2025).

What’s funny is that, in the clip I linked, the new talent that makes Tentacle Slam (Shadow Crash) also apply Shadow Word: Madness (Devouring Plague) to your target worked fine and it was applied even though the target wasn’t in line of sight. Just like VT and Pain used to. Baffles me that the new talent is coded properly and yet the old VT and Pain application is still bugged… 153 days now since the patch that broke it.

I just got back to the game a week ago and I can confirm that crash is not consistently applying dots to targets in arena or bgs. Sometimes yes. Sometimes no. I know that there’s a lot of immunities now, but not that damn many to equal the amount of times that dots aren’t applied

It’s been an issue with Line of Sight from what Ive seen and tested.

Thankfully it’s going away in a couple days, but still very annoying.

And apparently tentacle slam is just as buggy

Dont tell me that. You’re gonna break my heart.

Everything I’ve read from others on the forums is how it’s still very buggy. Checkout the priest feedback on the development forum.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but Slam has the same issues as Shadow Crash.

It is just faster and the bugs are therefore less likely to surface but the LoS issue is still the same regardless.

Played many games of random Bgs tonight and tentacle slam performed so much better than crash and what I expected. Was hitting people running behind columns. Wasn’t perfect but noticeably better.
