Severe FPS Drops Constantly

I recently resubbed after being gone for about 2-3 months, when I last played I could get a consistent 60fps in most cities and areas on Good-Fair settings, with some severe FPS drops around areas like the trading post when there were massive amounts of people there. But I’ve attended incredibly large RP events like the world’s faire carnival with little to no performance isssues.

My hardware hasn’t changed, but for whatever reason after the release of TWW I have been getting consistently horrid performance, with and without addons. In Stormwind I have flat out had WoW stop responding, and while flying over it I’ve gotten powerpoint levels of FPS. In larger outdoor areas FPS is consistent until I get into combat where it too drops to powerpoint levels.

I’ve toggled all my addons and the problem persists, and I’m currently running on just about the lowest settings (view distance, env detail, clutter all set at 2, the only thing higher than low or disabled is outline mode set to good)

I don’t have render scale raised greater than 100%, I have GUARANTEED that the game is using the correct graphics card. I’m baffled as to why I’m losing performance in older zones, such as from cata or wod, zones where previously i consistently could get 120fps

SPECS:
AMD Ryzen 7 3750H
8gb of Ram
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650
And WoW is installed onto an SSD.

I would start with a complete UI reset. Add.old do you cache folder your interface folder and wtf fold then start game and test

Personally I had the same issue going into TWW and I have a better GPU. I followed this video at the bottom. The most important ones for me was view distance and the second console command. Hope it helps!

I’ll try this in just a bit, I did a little test to make sure it wasn’t my SSD dying and I moved my game to my much newer HDD, no difference in performance as far as I could tell.

Do you have to make his /consols commands macros and use them every game log in or does it just stay this way once used?

no, Kackenkopf. once you use the console command it stays as you set it until you change it again.

Sorry for the late reply, wasn’t able to respond because people hadn’t commented

I did a full UI reset and now I’m getting a smooth 100fps, haven’t tested with my usual addon suite though (at this point I might just stick to using TRP3 for rp stuff and not risk anything else)

The game is playable now on good settings, however sometimes when I go back to Stormwind through the Mage’s Tower my game just flat out cannot load, drops to 0.1-0.3fps, and inevitably has to be restarted entirely. It’s strange because if I reboot and load into Stormwind it runs buttery smooth and perfectly fine, it’s only when I return to Stormwind through a city portal from somewhere else like Kalimdor.

Edit: want to add as well I am not using ANY addons except TRP3 (+Extended) and Scrap.

ty kind sir
