Now, yes, I understand.
In your eyes, its another one of them “/10char”/trolling/bait/debbie downer/“you’re not blizzard, you can’t say that for sure!” and every other name and thing under the sun on God’s green Earth.
Let me assure you, I am neither of those, its just my honest to god attempt at deflating people’s expectations so they would not set themselves for disappointment.
So, let’s look at the facts, shall we?
Sethrak is the Loa based race. Anything Loa cannot and never will be in Alliance, that’s just will never happen. And there’s no race to pair them with if they would somehow make into playable state.
Sethrak never had any strong connections with either of factions. Playing through Vol’dun campaign again reminds me that neither of the factions made any strong connections with Sethrak, they had a common goal which is to prevent awakening of old god spawn(faceless one or whatever).
Sethrak doesn’t have easy-to-digest(for consumer) Sexual Dimorphism. So far, if you look at all playable races, they all have one thing in common - you can tell who’s male and who’s a female, because every playable female has, well… breasts. “But, there’s picture from Hearthstone…” some might say, and maybe even point out that Sethraliss herself wears some kind of a snake-bra, but that doesn’t make it more easy for non-lore/non-rp person(in other words, the General Audience of the game) to tell male and female apart. Idea of different height(taller females, smaller males) would be rejected in the meeting rooms right away.
Sethrak has never received any development beyond truly miniscule changes. “But recent datamined information…” some might say, and the thing they would refer to is adding of, if memory serves me correctly, 2 or 3 animations for Sethrak. The explanation for that is that Spoilers Ahead one of your soulbinds(conduits?)was sethrak in life.
Same goes for the fact that sethrak didn’t received a dressable model. And by dressable model I mean the model that can use the textures and the meshes(3D parts) of the armor on itself.
Sethrak doesn’t have enough of a demand to make it to Meeting Rooms, let alone enough of the demand to consider it to be a part of the budget that decides how much resources one thing or the other going to have.
Hopefully, these will help you to realize and understand that you’ll not be getting snake people as playable race, ever. Unless, of course, a miracle happens, like entire WoW forums being spammed with threads each hitting the post cap and having 100k+ views demanding them to be added into the game. But, I don’t see that happening, ever.
It is. And it’ll get stronger the farther we move away from Vol’dun. And the end of expansion where they were featured is as far away as we can get, after that the only thing you can hope for is Honorable Mention in 8 years or so, like its happened with Pandaria/Uldum in BfA.
Last i checked. “never say never” because anything can happen, even if a Time traveling Alien has to break the laws of reality, its within the lore’s capability to support it.
Old Gods, Demons. living planets alternate planes of existence.
What ISN’T possible in this universe?
and who knows. Maybe Genn happens to gain the Trust and aid of the Sethrak while we are taking a Vacation in the Shadowlands.
how much time passes while we are away? all things are possible with time. and TIME is always on our side, as long as you know a time dragon or two.
We did this song and dance for almost 13 years with Ogres(which by the way is really NOT that hard to make playable, telling from my limited exposure to the insides of WoW engine), Naga(which would require to figure out not only the lore reason for homicidal race to be playable, but also jumping and riding mounts), and bunch of other races.
Nothing has changed since then. Hell, we don’t even know how in-game(NOT Hearthstone) females of other races would look like.
Lore-wise? Everything possible. Real-life/Game wise? Unless it makes a solid $ for Activision, you’ll never see it be implemented in game.
I’d rather you’ve tried to be rather definite for something we can not confirm/deny for certain.
Much of what you say can also be said for the Vulpera (differences between male/female is not huge, vast majority of development if any at all occurs in Voldun, you are liberating them just as you are the Devoted).
Now with that said I’m only just playing Devil’s Advocate here. Can’t say I’m too particular on getting playable Sethrak.
Sethrak would make a SSSSSSolid $ for Activision Blizzard because there is a Demand for them. as such, that argument actually supports a greater chance at them being added as a player race.
Sethrak for Horde, Arakkoa for Alliance. They can be joined by being races with virtually no sexual dimorphism…and frankly, it’s about time. They can balance out races like draenei, where the males and females barely look like the same species the sexual dimorphism is so pronounced.
At this point I agree that it’s unlikely going forward, but I think it was a HUGE missed opportunity in BFA. 8.1, 8.2, or even 8.3 could have easily added a little extra Sethrak content to give them a stronger link to the Alliance, and early on Vulpera were a perfect match on the Horde side.
I HIGHLY disagree with that going by what I’ve seen both on the forums and in the game.
Think it would be a really neat change of pace. To have sexual demorphism in favor of the women. Make the Sethrak women as tall as a Tauren (maybe not even that tall) and give them thicker hips. Leave the men as is. Boom.
Personally if there is no difference I’d be fine with that too.
The forums, the game, Twitter, Reddit, MMOChampion. Every darn art engine out there.
There’s 125k posts across the 7 Sethrak mega threads alone.
