trying to use the services channel is impossible with all of the summon bots spamming it. i know thats what its for but something needs to be done maybe a level minimum req to speak? i’ve used the summoning services before i and all 5 of the “totally real people” part of that group were all spamming trade selling summons. so every summon group has 3+ ppl spamming the services channel. please do something to moderate this somehow please!
There’s a LFG channel if you’re not providing a service.
That service channel is there for them so that way you don’t see it unless you need a service
You can report anyone selling a service outside of that channel
i’m looking for/offering services and i have to use this channel. which when i post my msg it instantly disappears 3 pages up.
So then what’s the problem you post in service channel for whatever the reason your selling idc what it is. And you’re upset that your message is what not the last message?
the problem is when i post a msg. i don’t even see it. its literally gone instantly. i thought i typed in the wrong place. its seriously bad
As someone that offers summons in the Services channel and is a real person, I think this is unfortunately due to the fact that the others offering their summons (read: my competitors) offer their services on all characters participating in the summon. So imagine someone offering a summon to SM on 3 logged in chars and WS on 3 other logged in chars: that is six spammed messages every 30 seconds (or whatever the speed limit is).
The tricky part here is even if you put in some party/raid velocity check (spamming Services takes note of the people in your party), it still won’t solve the fact that as of the Anniversary realms, we’re megaserver’d. I can say right now that the spam I see on Dreamscythe is simply just 1-2 people going super hard, but since it is the only “Normal” type Anniversary realm, it could just as easily be 3-6 people going super hard and it’d be the same amount of spam.
I honestly think chat channels were a cute and novel solution in 2003, but is silly and antiquated in the modern era of megaservers. Just like the LFG channel is vestigial now that we have a built-in LFG tool, perhaps we should ask them to bolster that for Services as well and abandon chat spam entirely.
services lfg tool would be peak
