Either that, or we should have cross-realms again.
This is… absolutely nuts. Grobbulus shouldn’t be the only RP-PVP server. I know it’s said to protect us from bots, but that’s kind of a hit and miss. I still see bots. So… basically we’re just walled in with them instead while keeping our friends out.
Tried to get my oldest dungeon mate to play with me, and as it turned out… he couldn’t join. So please. Add another server, or enable cross-realms for our friends. In no way should people have to either transfer out to play with friends, or just not be able to enjoy both aspects of the game in the way that the specific realms offer.
In before someone says, “But you can just flag yourself while everyone hides behind not being flagged.”
I don’t normally post on these threads, but this… I think needs to be considered.
Uhh what? I think you’re a bit off track. Grobb originally doubled in size because of refugees from dying PvP servers who got free xfers, and RP was no part of the consideration for many of them. This drastically affected the ability of og players to RP as they were used to, between all the extra bystanders not participating and simply having more and more layers divide the community.
If anything, those who came here with no interest in RP should have left when queues started at wrath launch. Asking for another RP server would only divide the community further still. There also was one originally, it didn’t make it (DD).
The simplest fix is to just unlock servers.
Queues haven’t been an issue for a while.
I don’t think anyone has a say in people’s intentions. Also, while I do agree people who do not want to enjoy a server for all its aspects probably shouldn’t be on Grobbulus, that’s not ours to say, for example people who are on there simply to guild lead raids to help people get RP gear, and mounts, PvPers who do the same thing, etc. As long as they’re not breaking the rules.
It’s an RPPVP server, but the only one. Queues may no longer exist since the lock, but according to some guildmates, once the bigger patches unlock, we’d probably see the queues again anyway.
Obviously they need to unlock the server, but if queues are that bad if unlocked, they should make two rp-pvp servers. Maybe bring back DD. Maybe there will be some rivalry in who has more actual roleplay, but Wyrmrest Accord, and Moon Guard had that as well, and that was fine.
I don’t even know where to begin. Let’s shorten it: People have lives. Now they want to play again and try it in classic Wrath. Especially out of nastolgia. etc. Whether they were busy or not doesn’t merit value of anyone’s friends.
Yes, but many of my friends are not only PVPers. So that makes it feel like a waste of time just gearing and… well? Probably doing nothing, cause one aspect is taken out.
Sure, we could go to the one RP server, but then now we take out fairly open world PVP, which is the thrill of being on a RP-PVP server in the first place. As for protecting us from bots… I see tons of bots. That lock did nothing.
I see lots of people want a second RP-PvP server. Unfortunately those get washed out a lot, especially by sarcastic answers.
Hahahaha! Oh goodness. Lots, actually! I have seen lots of RP raid groups since cross-realm was made a thing. However, my original thought was so that people can make toons on their PVP or RP normal server and tag along with us in leveling/raiding. RP is a thing too. I usually got involved with the mystery event ones, but yeah. There’s lots you can do with that.
It can be! They’re usually pretty huge when they happen. They can also be funny, from my experience. (Sometimes you got someone who tags along, not knowing what’s going on, but try their hardest, and they’re… Amazing for it. )
It would be nice for Wrath Classic, but I’m trying to be realistic. I think they’re trying to force everything to align with how classic was done chronologically, so we won’t even see an original dungeon finder version till near the end if at all. (Which is kind of annoying. Every day I’m spammed with people trying to charge for dungeons.)
People that were never part of Grob but want to play WotLK for a bit with their buddies (and then leave after a couple of months) can remain outside our walls. These transients are not important enough to open our gates, which would flood our realm with transfers and bots.
Go make an alt on a different server to play with your friend for a couple of months until he quits.
I spent way too much time leveling all my toons on the server to simply play on another server. To transfer all this is costly, and what do I get when I do? Either a server with no RP. Or a server with no world PvP. Do you order a taco and be happy when all you get is just a spoon full of beans in the middle somewhere?
On top of that, your kind of thought process only works if you were 100% right, but it’s not. It’s enabling an error made by the devs, for the sake of pretending to be right.
But it’s not. A lot of people thrived best in Wrath/Classic, especially roleplayer/pvpers, and my friends love roleplay and Wrath. But also PVP. So you can’t just assume what people want.
And yes, those people who don’t wanna go further do vanish. On their own. And that’s a healthier way to let it be. Not locking.
Yeah, they messed up. But at this point, they say there’s nothing they can do about it. If the choice is between some players not being able to play with their friends, and five hour queues, I think most of the players on the locked realms would rather see the needs of the many served before the needs of the few.
If given a choice to take a free transfer to a non-overly populated server, I’m going to be honest. People may be hopping there pretty quickly. Both, probably to set a basis for the in-game economy. Establish guilds/raids/pvp teams. Etc.
The only downside I can see in this, from following patterns of players, is that one RPPvP server would mostly be horde, and the other alliance, but that’s okay. Doesn’t really stop people from being competitive.
Locking is just punishing the players, and shouldn’t have ever had to happen.
I do not see it fathomably possible that people would take a free transfer to a second server and decide to return so much that it’d actually somehow recreate the problem since I’m pretty sure that’d cost a lot to return [all their toons].
