Servers For Each Expansion

Considering the success of Classic, It might be a good idea. I would enjoy playing end game of many previous expansions and I am sure many others would too. It seems a waste for all the fun that was had and all the work put into it for end game to just vanish every two years.

God no, that is the last thing we need.

Why God no? Theres plenty worse things they could do, whats so bad about that? Split the player base too much? You only need 1 populated server per expansion to have a good play experience.

I’d love to see the WoD server, who else thinks it will be hands down the most dead server that would exist in the game?

Theres hardly anyone playing as it is. Imagine if they were divided among 8 different games. There would literally not be enough people to play with.

Because not only would you be splitting the player base up but you would be creating what would eventually become dead servers. Sure it would be fun to play BC as a progression server but then when Wrath comes out, do you jump to another server and start over? I am fine with the concept of a fresh start but having a server locked to each expansion would just be a waste.

A lot of people said Classic was a bad idea. But it doubled the subscriptions. This would surely bring back many players too.

Classic is 100% different as it will be a server that constantly progresses thru each expansion. It is not time locked to one expansion, with another time locked to the next and another to the next and on and on.

I was not aware classic would progress thru expansions…

As far as anyone knows, the classic server will be done getting any real content after Naxxramas is released. There may be some minor bug fixes / balance changes but, thats about it.

While they haven’t official announced it, the classic team has mentioned that if it remains strong they would consider the expansions. If there is interest in a BC server, it would be the perfect option. As it would be the next logical step in the mission of classic, which is to reproduce the game experience as it was at that point in time.

We do not need to split the playerbase out over nine eras of WoW.

Begone, OP.

I personally would enjoy a server locked at each expansion. I just want to go back and play end game of pretty much every expansion and not have my progress vanish.

I would say there would be quite a few people that would play it for the content that came before 6.2 (sans garrisons). A lot people would enjoy doing mythic highmaul and BRF, maybe even CMs.

Also only create 2-4 servers, don’t give into server launch hype like what happened with Classic, which leads to dead servers.

The biggest component of a successful MMORPG is having a healthy population to sustain it.

Classic didn’t just come out - it had years of anticipation and support from a community who wanted it to happen. For any other expansion to have a similarly successful launch, Blizzard would have to drum up hype and anticipation to get people on board for a busy launch… and you can’t keep stealing players from a different version to do that.

I suspect there will be a TBC relaunch within a year or two and then years later a wotlk server. I don’t think you could have their launches overlap without splitting the community to the detriment of each expansion.

That’s like only legacy server I would be interested in. I really hate the idea of wasting time progressing something that I already did years ago, but being able to play two of the arguably best raids only with item leveling and maybe a little bit of ring stuff done would be tempting.

Well I just think the ‘splitting the player base’ argument is a moot point because, to begin with, classic doubled the player base.

Servers dedicated to each expansion would certainly just bring back more and more players.

I have been playing this game since open beta and I really miss end game from the past. One shouldn’t be forced to play private servers for this option.

I eventually expect them to go the EverQuest route and see how much of a money grab releasing a new “classic” type server on a yearly basis is.

Sadly it would fracture the playerbase too much to ever consider

As someone who largely enjoys casual PvP, BC would be the bees knees. I supported Classic and wanted it to succeed mostly in hopes that it would bring about BC servers.

BC still has a great feeling of progression through leveling and content, but the replayability of it is top of the line for me.
