Its almost phase 2, most server populations dropped, and the worst part is some friends who you started playing with quit. It would be best to just leave paid server transfer on. You get money… LOTS OF IT! Also you will be doing fans a service they want. Its a win win. I have a 60 priest on another server I leveled with friends who don’t seem to be as active anymore. I would like to pay you free money.
If I had to guess, I would think they will add them in phase 3.
By Phase 3 the pop will drop a lot on many realms and it will add ‘cross-realm’ pvp. With a cross-realm feature already in place, that would be the perfect time for them to add it.
Paid transfers were added very late in Vanilla. If they are trying to re-create a comparable experiene, it would make sense for this feature to only become available in the later phases. Phase 5 or 6 is my guess.
What’s absolutely hilarious about this statement is that at the current phase of the game (launch of Dire Maul) there are currently more than double the number of people subbed and playing classic, than there were people subbed to vanilla at this stage of the game. Yet people are screaming “OMG dead servers!”. It really is quite hilarious to watch.
The earnings report from blizzard stating that there was an over 200% increase in subs due to classic. Before WoW Classic, most estimates had the the retail subscriber count somewhere in the range of 1-2 million subs. 1.5×2.00 = 3. This is a ballpark figure, mind you.
Vanilla Wow didn’t hit 3 million subs until almost a year after launch.
Are you posting from your main? Pretty sure Thunderfury is still layered due to its overpopulation, so you are still only seeing half your realm’s population.
That medium is still higher pop then a Vanilla server seeing as it’s still layered. Once they remove that layer though your realm should look a lot more populated.
