Anyone else hopeful that today’s “longer than usual” maintenance might mean something good for our near future?
They just updated the time they plan to bring things back up.

It said 7am - 8am (approximately) on the launcher. Now it says 7am - 9am (approximately.)
I haven’t noticed any downloads, yet. It’d be nice if 1.13.7 hit in the near future.

What would you expect to be incoming if the something good was happening? Or are you talking about pre-patch?
I’d think 1.13.7 before the pre-patch. It’s been on the PTR for ages.

There is going to be a change to spell batching as well. They are reducing it to 10ms instead of 400ms.
Is batching the thing that make the slow of blizzard really weird? If so I understand the concept yet have none of the required words to explain what it actually is haha.
I’ll leave that to a mage to answer. I never really played one much, and haven’t paid attention to the mechanics.

The game servers do not process everything immediately as they happen. Instead, there is a window of time where actions are queued up and executed at the same time. The larger the window, the more obvious this is.
As a practical example for Mages in PvP, it is possible to Polymorph each other at the same time due to this. You would expect this not to be possible because one spell will inevitably finish casting before the other, but if they both finish in the same spell casting batch, they are executed simultaneously.

Got it. Yeah it is the thing I was thinking of and that change will be absolutely lovely. Does this interact with the leeway mechanic at all? If you don’t know off the top of your head don’t worry about it, I can do some digging myself.
I am only vaguely aware of the leeway mechanic, and I am not sure if it will be impacted.
