wtf is going on, not a reset but a shutdown?
yeah can’t find any info on it atm… my server saying it could be because of the ddos attacks
The wording is normally “shutdown.” I don’t recall ever seeing “reset” (which would sound much more worrisome, as we probably wouldn’t want our servers reset to some previous backup state).
Happening on Mankrik. Must be a world server thing they are doing. Hope its just a rolling reset
If it is a quick restart, it will usually say:
[SERVER] Restart in mm:ss
The fact that it says SHUTDOWN means we should expect them to be offline for some indeterminate amount of time, rather than quickly brought back up right after.
Pretty sure it is.
Are you sure?
“Shutdown” seems quite familiar to me (I don’t claim to have a perfect memory, but I lean towards it being normal, even).
Well I guess when I say “usually”, it doesn’t apply anymore. They don’t “do” restarts anymore really. It’s always either a Shutdown for a Tuesday planned maintenance (even if they happen to come right back up within minutes of going down), or a Shutdown for [undetermined amount of time] due to some emerging issue.
BACK IN MY DAY…
Our day, imo. My assumption is that we have all been playing since beta.
This is it. Game over.
WoW pulling an Overlord?
good thing they decided to do this during peak hours. nice. Grats.
Two in one day!
I mean it’s not like it’s Tuesday… owait
Everyone sees the message Server will shutdown in 15 minutes every tuesday. For resets and for updates.
Its only TBC though, everything else seems fine. Thats whats odd.
Tuesday maintenance has never been at this time. What are you even talking about?
Tuesdays typically aren’t restarts. They’re hour-long maintenance periods, where they expect the servers to be offline for X amount of time. It’s just happenstance that the servers will sometimes come back up very shortly after going down if they aren’t really making any changes to the game that week.
Servers will be down temporarily while they resolve the DDos issue. It takes time… Settle down
Literally exactly what I stated. What are you talking about? Do you feel that something I stated implied that I meant it was normal maintenance?
What?
Why?
My point was that the nomenclature of “Shutdown” was normal, rather than “Restart” from my recollection.
Do you disagree? Cool. That’s fine. I’m just stating what I think I remember.
I think we’re gonna be ok…
