Blizz is the only game company I know of at this point that does their server maintenance during the day. Everyone else does it between 1am and 6am (when the average person is sleeping). I dont get much time to play as is and after dealing with the login issues yesterday that prevented me from playing it sucks to have to wait for a maintance to happen right in the middle of the time I do get to play. They’ve done this for 14 years yeah, but maybe its time to change? Actually have some employees work during the night to do this type of thing?

SWTOR does it during the day as well. That aside, they’re never going to have a time when they can avoid interrupting anyone. By doing it when they do, it’s handled mostly during the work/school day in the US (depending on what time zone you live in) so it’s probably one of the less impactful times (at least outside of Covid).
You know that not everyone that plays is in America? 5pm my time could be 2am in Australia.
And also, people have lives, and don’t work at these insane hours. Not counting the fact that the devs have to sleep just like anyone else to be at their best.

But as I said a lot of other games do their maintenance at night/early morning. Im well aware theres no way they can do it at a time where they can’t interrupt anyone but in the end this is still the day time. It makes no sense to do it now as it will generally affect less people during the late night/early morning

This is normal business hours.
Honestly I’d just suggest accepting and moving on. What is getting angry about it going to change? Don’t waste your energy on something with now rewarding outcome

EU reset happens during blizz workers regular shift but its 2am EU time. This is why I suggested some employees just work overnight. Its not a crazy suggestion.
FFXIV (a Japanese-based MMO) does their routine patch maintenance downtime between 10pm-2am EST… which is approximately 11am-3pm JST.
Basically, games do maintenance during primary working hours for their “home” region. And they do it during normal operations hours.

Welp. Guess thats that. It still sucks tho and I do believe it should always happen as people typically sleep.
At least the maintenance stuff. The bigger stuff I completely understand and expect to happen during regular hours when you have the full work force

Never said I was. In fact its more of a reason for them to do the maintenance earlier as im sure im not the only one constantly annoyed by it.

…its been rare we have a long maintenance. Primarily around big patches/ expansion launches. That is it. This is not a wide spread, weekly issue…
