How is the server population for an interested player looking to swap realms?
Also, how active is world pvp on the server?

Server pop is decent, wpvp has been suffering since WM, join a rp-pvp guild and you’ll easily be able to find a good community and pvp. I’ll even offer up inviting you to SSC if you’d like to test the waters.
Depends on where you’re hopping from.
Server pop feels kinda low-ish, but that’s not too surprising seeing as a lot of people are still playing Classic, people from here seem to mostly be on Grobbulus.
WPVP I haven’t seen much of personally, it seems mostly dead. Though to be fair I don’t have War Mode on that often anymore, but even when I do I don’t see much of any fighting, bar the occasional scrap on Mechagon.
Honestly, I see more WPVP on Wyrmrest Accord and even Moon Guard than I do here in recent days, which I guess isn’t super surprising since (last year?) there was a few large-ish guilds that moved from here to Wrymrest.
Overall I’d say it isn’t awful on either front, but honestly I’ll probably be mainly playing on a different realm next expansion so take from that what you will.
WPVP on this realm is hard to figure out the population for with every reject using LFG to pull loads of undesirables to the realm. Then there is still the sharding issue where you never see your own server.
I doubt that has much to do with it, the few larger guilds that left, rarely participated in WPVP without crying or would sit afk in Stormwind.
I wish I could say that sitting at home crying was alliance exclusive but plenty of horde “wpvp” guilds did it too
Edit: everything Acialga said is pretty much spot on, at this point it won’t be till next xpac till the action comes back
