Server Population and Layering

I’ve been trying to find any information on what the server populations are going to be capped at and have not had a great time with it. In addition to that, what percentage set population will be segmented into a specific layer. As in there is a huge difference between 3k per layer with a 10k population compared to a 3k population with 500 person layers.

I haven’t found any information, but maybe someone has?

Layering wouldn’t be based on server populations. It would be based on congruent players logged in.

If only 2k players are online. 1 layer.

The server populations weren’t much more than that at 2.5-3k so if that is the case then why layer at all?

The layers are 3k.

They’re still looking at it, but eventually Vanilla levels is the plan. See the StaysafeTV interview from today.

I understand the hype train marketing aspect of the streamer situation but it would be nice to see some written out technical specifications. Can’t watch twitch while working but I can read articles in between. Also for clarification purposes as well. Thanks for the response Eloraell.

This is a fantastic question, one which I have as well.

Why is blizzard implementing server tech that did not exist in vanilla in order to pop up realm populations that did not exist in vanilla?
