Hi,

I’m currently residing on one of the original servers, Bloodhoof, where my guild, Fury of War has been since Launch. I’ve transferred off when I pursued pvp harder in Cata / MoP, but I returned because this is my home and where all my friends of 15+ years play.

I’m sure my, and my guild’s situation, isn’t unique. People have been slowly, or not so slowly from what I hear for other servers, transferring off and going to larger ones. Combine this with faction population inequality and we are effectively a dead server - well servers because we also have Duskwood.

A lot of this is anecdotal as the information I have access to isn’t necessarily indicative of the amount of Accounts on server but the number of characters. There were 12 guilds who killed any bosses in Mythic BoD. Of these twelve guilds, only two killed more than the first boss. Of these two only one guild killed more than the first three - which was frequently being pugged on other servers.

By no means, is my guild a top tier powerhouse anymore. In fact getting people to our servers, Bloodhoof and Duskwood, isn’t really feasible as our server population and economy feels like its dwindling and there are no progression power houses.

But, what’s happening is one by one guilds are dropping off and dying. 18 Guilds had kills in Mythic Uldir. 9 of which killed multiple bosses and 1 cleared it. If you look back to Legion there are points where we had over twenty guilds in Mythic in some form.

Sure, you can say that this is my problem. I understand that. We stay here because we have history here. We stay here because our friends and all of our alts are here. We stay here because, well, as others have pointed out time and again - Community matters.

I’m writing this - because our Community is dying. The economy is by no means healthy. The chat is dead.

I know my server(s) can’t be the only ones like this. I guarantee there are other servers that are experiencing this - and not just because of Classic. This is an ongoing problem since Legion where people are going to larger servers.

I don’t expect or ask for free Transfers to or off of these server groups. I know thats unrealistic and also unlikely to make a difference because I enjoy who I play with as much as what I do. Some of these people have roots as deep as you can in this game. People playing together since before WoW in Everquest and other games. This would only make this situation worse.

But, is it possible, to have another server “merge” for lack of a better word or at least consider it? Our server is dying, and I don’t want to see it die. It was done once before where cross realm players are connected together at the hip. We share an economy. We can be in guilds together. It felt better when I saw it. I’ve met a lot of new people and become very close friends that I would have never known if this didn’t happen previously.

The TLDR - and I know it will probably fall on deaf ears - Can we please get another server / group of servers in a similar situation as ours merged together. Im sure there are others in a similar situation and this may help revitalize some guilds / communities that are otherwise on the verge of dying. We want to play this game we love. We want to see the content that is produced. We want to do it with friends that we’ve made over the past fifteen years.

Community matters - please help save ours.

Well written- and you made good points. I wouldn’t mind it. I do wish their sharding and crap would favor players from our own servers though. I’m on the biggest alliance server and about 20% of the people I see are actually from here.

As much as you want it, and the game probably needs it, I believe the silence from Blizz tells the intention on their part… they want you to buy server transfers, because money. Pretty sure Blizz feels server mergers are a thing of the past.

While I understand that view point, I believe its slightly misguided.

We have zero intention of transferring and while I can’t speak for others who may be just as entrenched as us, I don’t think I’m alone.

If our community dies it will be the death knell of the server and most of us (my guild but potentially substitute other guilds here too) will likely unsub.

This is an original server. We were strongly entrenched in the initial progression of the game and being on the cutting edge.

I think a better business practice, though I would be interested on the numbers, would be to offer server transfers like they have been up to a point. Personally, I think we have reached this point.

Whether or not it happens, a little discussion never hurt anyone right?

Ah, but you see the problem is it doesn’t matter whether YOU think it’s misguided. What matters is if Blizz thinks its misguided eh?

True! But if people want to stay with their guilds and the communities they’ve grown to love are they going to transfer off?

I think that they would rather quit and wait to try it again later.

Where as if they link servers like they have before it keeps both active.

Again, I wish I could see the cost benefit analysis and the risk assessment because it may paint a different picture.

That said - I would like to point out that I do not think Classic is to blame. Maybe partially - but those people who are playing it likely were going to move on any way. That, and this slide started well before Classic any way.
