So, the U.S. servers have quite a few locked realms now (Angerforge, Ashkandi, Azuresong, Eartfury, Eranikus, Maladath, Myzrael, Old Blanchy, Skyfury, Sulfuras, Westfall, and Windseeker) in Cata Classic. I have five Horde toons in Ashkandi, and been wondering when Blizz is going to merge them (possibly right before Mists of Pandaria Classic drops). Has Blizz made an announcement yet about these servers? I want to move my Horde characters to another server when the time arrives. Does anyone have a good idea what will happen with the servers and exactly when?
no. /10char1
if they are horde just take the free transfer off to either faerlina or mankrik
This isn’t an option for all servers - especially the ones that are actively dying now
Yes. Blizzard made announcements to merge the bigger servers, and never followed up.
They really should combine them at this point to mega servers.
You said you’re on a locked server. Those have free transfers off.
Blizz doesn’t need to merge beyond that. I’m liking playing on a locked server.
I love it too. Very quiet chat not full of spam. No spam mails. No bots. I keep checking /who Naxx and totally empty on both sides. It’s great having ore and herbs when you need to go farm some. Getting quests done in a reasonable time not having to wait for spawns. Mega servers suck. Thats where all the sh!t is.
Yup. Check Naxx in a a high pop server and it’s riddled with bots.
Why is everybody so obsessed with the terrible concept of a mega server just stop it.
Is having no one to play with on the server a better solution?
Folks, i get what yall mean with one big mega server BUT… remember what happens when a server goes down or burps… we’d ALL be SOL.
For some gentle souls it is. I’ve rolled fresh on a bigger server in recent weeks from a so-called dead server, and ya’ll is nasty. Sometimes I don’t really need to hear the cuck-calling, insults, and Smellmyfing*r’s hot takes on politics.
I’m fine with Atiesh, I get that we’re considered a small server now but guess what I can still go out in the world and do things. Mega servers are the dumbest thing to ever come to wow the game is not designed for it plain and simple there is an intended population support limit for the amount of resources in the game world layering can help but it’s not a total solution as seen by the problems with costs of things in anniversary. So no thank you.
I’m currenty on Grobbulus and the server population makes it impossible to recruit new players for raiding. This in turn makes it so a guild either transfers, or they stop playing reducing the server population even further. They are hopefully going to do what they did on SoD and just allow free transfers to bigger servers.
“Why do people playing an MMO want to be able to login and participate in that MMO without having to schedule their real life around logging in at primetime?”
There are far more downsides than upsides
Naw you gotta pay.
Oh it’s a multiplayer game that depends on a healthy community? Well then reroll sucker, or pay up!
Oh what? You suggest Blizz actively manage the servers with good judgement, bahahahahah no.
“our metrics suggest there is no need”
translation: “we are still making bank, and we hate you”
Thanks for your comments and tips everyone. I can see many of you have good points. I agree it is nice to have a somewhat quiet server to play in for the solo-able quests and farming mats without too much competition, but I also see the downside for trying to complete dungeons and group quests if there are not enough people to help you out with them. And I agree doing without the toxicity in chat channels is a major plus. I have alliance toons on Atiesh too, and am a member of a great guild, the people in it are very nice and help each other out. The only gripe I have with the server is that I have not been able to do battlegrounds because the wait time is like forever. Figured there are not enough people around that actually do BGs.
