My friend is late to the WoW Classic party and finally decided to start playing classic but come to find out he can’t make a character on my server because the server I play on is now locked. He can’t even wait in queue to make a character, so he is totally locked out and unable to play with me until the Server Lock is lifted. I understand the need for Server Locking to prevent further population issues for some servers but this has prevented a new player from getting a chance to play with their friends entirely with no way around it. This isn’t resolved with the usual “Just play on a lower populated server” they don’t want to play on a different server, they came to Classic specifically to play with me on my server. @Blizzard Do we have an ETA when we can let some people make some new characters on these locked servers?
Probably never as those servers always have high queue times and people making new toons and alts. Sorry to say
Is this the daily “the rules are unfair” post, complete with “here is my special case – the rules don’t fit my special case”? I see a post like this every day. Literally.
But I will assume this is an exception, OP is sincere, and his situation is real.
Thousands of player posts in this forum asked help from Blizzard, and Blizzard responded. OP is complaining because Blizzard listened to its playerbase, or is saying that his friend is more important than the other players.
Don’t ask Blizzard to predict the future, or to give an ETA on the pandemic. Blizzard doesn’t have any control over the pandemic, the lockdown in California, the impact of the pandemic, or player decisions. Since they cannot control ANY of that, obviously they don’t have an ETA for it.
Blizzard has made a post about this they just see you as collateral damage it’s unfortunate that your experience with your friend is ruined by it.
It’s funny how you are so defensive of horrible behavior from a company.
While true that server is locked. There’s a whole mess of them that are not locked. With decent pops.
Oh i know. Your whole family plays there and your book club…
These servers wouldn’t be getting locked. Nor would layering have been turned back on if some of you would spread out.
Somehow in 2020, mega pvp servers (where hardly anyone is really there for the pvp. See P2 for seemingly endless examples and see the recent rash of destroying servers to avoid the pvp by the carebears server hopping to stacked realms) are the “real vanilla experience”.
Yea. If they’re a real friend they will find a way on that server to add to the over population with you.
I mean no way you could roll a different server to level with them…
His friends can transfer to another server or roll there and he can play with them there.
There are absolutely “ways around it”.
Just break the lock with your muscles.
Both of you start new characters on an unlocked server. Problem solved, now go play with your friend
Just roll on a different server with them. What Blizzard is doing to control population and balance is much more important in the bigger picture. You’re not the only person experiencing this grievance, I’m sure.
You could always roll on another server with him.
YOU might be able to do that because you’re not essential to your guild and it wouldn’t matter if you left. Some people have key guild roles such as GMs or Officers so they can’t leave.
Read what the post said “This isn’t resolved with the usual “Just play on a lower populated server” they don’t want to play on a different server, they came to Classic specifically to play with me on my server.”
Apparently you’ve never hear of raid logging and Discord. No one was asking him to leave his guild.
