Higher latency due to using Oceanic server for instances

Something is going on with the servers atm. Internet connection and tracert are fine however the last 1-2 hours seeing 240+ latency, mostly inside instances.

Can someone check this out? I’ve checked with my m+ friends who are all over the central US and east coast and they have similar issues, sometimes slightly worse with up to 300 ms latency.

Effect is 1 sec delay on interupts, hitting explosive orbs is hit or miss, and feeling like you are moving through molasses.

Update: Just recently started getting better (last 3 mins) and hovering around 100ms which is still 4 times higher than normal.

Thank you,

Same for me. Since last Tuesday’s reset, all areas are more laggy than usual with varying numbers. M+ especially was a nightmare in servers where I normally have no lag at all.

happened to me too last night lost 2 vessels cus of it. Blizzard must be running out of server allocation for instance so they are doing this which is not good imo…

Same here, I’m playing from EU on US realm Area 52, my usual MS is on 115-120ms, even on peak-times when people use net, I still have 130-140ms, easily playable. Yesterday the ms for some reason went up to 240-500ms … Was doing visions, started off as 120 and it slowly went up to 450-500ms and it stayed there. Today I login in and it sits at 210-240ms constantly, I look at other games, everything is running on low ms, even tested some games which runs on US servers, everything run fine with the usual ms, its just WoW. + if i get OC realm phased, my MS use to be 500, now if it happens, it goes up to 4000+…

Hey there,

Lets go ahead and grab a winMTR so we can further investigate the problem. Here are the instructions:

edited: Removing unnecessary steps - this was found to be an issue that needed Blizzard to investigate it

Just like you guys, same issue… for the last 1-2 weeks, almost unplayable. I can’t even do a m+ with this lag. I did a winmtr and the lag is happening at and after this IP 4.7.196.134.

Here is Pastebin version, because for me the format looks weird:

pastebin(dot)com/AFMcyLnA

After posting this, about 15 mins later instance latency returned to normal. Tonight, same time latency comes back. 30 MS in outdoor areas, 260-300 inside m+.

Rupp,

Were you in the instance when you ran that test, and actively having latency? That test looks just fine, which is why I ask. If you did run it in the instance, can you repeat the test using the other WoW IP in the article?

Yes. My entire group said the same thing, that their latency spiked from 20-30 to 250-300.

Soon as I left the instance (King’s Rest and earlier Freehold), the latency returned to normal. Currently in the outside world of Boralus and only have 27MS latency. Inside the instance…250-292. This is an instance issue.

Adding to this. My entire m+ group experienced extreme latency / spell lag in instances the last two evenings. Could recover by closing and reopening client but would gradually increase when we returned to instance. It does seem to be sporadic, but definitely something going on.

Support COME ON.

Tues Raid night and everyone in the raid is 200-350 latency. How many nights in a row do we need to go through this without a single acknowledgement from Blizz?

Just wasted someone’s 14 Siege key on because the whole group said they were lagging badly. This is ridiculous. Every single server reset there is horrible lag but this is the first time I have seen it affect mythic+

Can someone please tell me why I’m getting 98% packet loss? The game is completely unplayable when it happens, and it only happens when in raid instances. I have no issues elsewhere. What’s going on?

I really need help from a BLUE. I am American staying in India atm, and the game has become utterly unplayable. I normally play on 250-300ms lag and I play great. But what we are talking about now is 2k MS lag to 15k MS Lag!!! I am watching the raid fight a boss that ended over a minute ago. It’s unreal. Seems to get worse in groups, and in content hubs like horrific vision instances, even when running solo.
I have a top notch new Mac 27 inch desktop. I scan and repaired, disabled admins, reset WTF and Cache folder, modem, ect. Nothing works. I am sure it is a network issue.
Here is my trace route I just ran. Everything become ***, which I researched and mean that basically things in the network are really destroyed. Let me know what I need to do please and check this out!

WinMTR v0.92 GPL V2 by Appnor MSP - Fully Managed Hosting & Cloud Provider

It looks like you are getting 398ms latency spikes to the modem. Is it possible to test this while using a hardwired connection to the modem?

Post WinMTR results, please.

To further this, I also experience the same thing. Random instances I have 3-4 times my normal MS. Some BGs it goes up to 3600.

Our entire raid team, both nights this week (tues and wed) all have the same issue- our ping times slowly climb (mine starts at 50ms outside the zone), up to about 275-300ms once inside the raid. We are on Area 52, doing Mythic Ny’alotha zone - I’ve raided some PUG raids in Heroic and didn’t have this issue. Noticed other people in /general while inside also having entire raid team with 300ms , but others did not. As it affects the entire raid team, it is nothing client side related. It has basically ended our raiding for the time being until it can be fixed (and we’re only 2 night a week raiders.) PLEASE have your network specialists look into this…
