The lag currently being experienced in Orgrimmar and Silithus is completely unacceptable. Blizzard have had forever to prepare for this massive influx of players and have done absolutely nothing to mitigate the bandwidth issues that were very obviously going to occur.
I just logged in to walk around Org and see what it’s like. I’m not experiencing any lag. Could be something on your server?
high pop servers or over populated zones can get a bit of lag, and its not batching, its just massive chunky server lag.
Mitigation is not elimination.
you will not get layering back so you can get the door open faster.

Imagine knowing your servers are laggy and not doing anything about it.

I mean, the best thing they could do to keep the servers from lagging would be to have queues and hard server caps for the event. Are you volunteering to be kept out so that others don’t have lag?
Other games have handled 500 vs 500 battles in the past. There’s no reason why Blizzard can’t do it.
