Serpent Spread and Chimera Shot

When posting in this forum, please always include:

  • I am playing on Season of Discovery, Classic.
  • Equip the Runes “Serpent Spread” & “Chimera Shot”
  • Character Name: Bigblackhawk / Server: Lone Wolf

Issue:
When using Chimera Shot and Serpent Spread, Chimera shot does not recognize the serpent sting from Serpent Spread as a useable debuff for its 40% damage bonus.

In the combat log, when you serpent sting an enemy, then chimera shot them, you will see two different sources of damage.

Source 1: Chimera Shot
Source 2: Chimera Shot - Serpent

When you use Serpent Spread, there is only one source of damage being applied to the target-- “Chimera Shot.”

The additional 40% of your serpent sting’s damage is not being applied to the target when Serpent Spread is used as the origin of Serpent Sting.

This issue persists following the chimera shot’s refresh of Serpent Sting on the target. Despite refreshing a full duration Serpent Sting, there is still no added damage to the target until you explicitly apply Serpent Sting to the target.

My assumption is that Chimera Shot looks for the specific Serpent Sting Spell ID–and it is not also looking for the Spell ID of the 6s Serpent Sting from Serpent Spread–or the resulting Spell ID associated with the Serpent Sting Debuff after refreshing a Serpent Spread up to a 15s Duration. I’m also assuming that when you refresh Serpent Sting on the target with Chimera Shot, that the Serpent Spread Spell ID remains, but at a 15s duration–and therefore Chimera Shot is not registering the 2nd (and possibly 3rd) Spell ID’s as a Serpent Sting on the target.

Chimera Shot also does not take into account additional Spell Damage when calculating the damage for the 40% snapshot of Serpent Sting’s damage. Unsure if this is intentional or not, but I would assume that it should take the total damage of Serpent Sting with spell damage added and use that for the 40% calculation.

Bump this issue still exists, makes serpent spread pretty worthless.
