Seriously, with the I'm-Not-a-Bot Verification?

(Being as the Suggestions Forum is not there anymore):

Sigh…

Every time I go to log in now, I have to fill out a pop-up window in my login screen of one of those “Verify you’re human” bot tests? For real? And what if I can’t quite make out the image and mess it up? I’m locked out of a game I pay monthly to play?

For the love of…

You’re telling me, there is seriously no automated program Blizz has running to see how long an account has been active against how many “suspicious” activity reports it has? Which on mine, would be absolute freakin’ zero, since Vanilla.

I dunno, I guess I’ve officially hit the “I’m too old for this.”

Heh heh… gee, it’s like having 20 years worth of casual forum posting relegated to cyber oblivion and now I have to prove I’m trustworthy to post links in a thread. /facepalm

Good times.

End sigh…

First, even masked profanity is against the rules. Best to edit that out.

While editing, it should give you the option to love the thread to another forum. The General Discussion forum might be better suited for this feedback.

Perl… that is a well known phrase from the movie series “Lethal Weapon”, I masked it out of a respect for the rules.

But fine. I can put it in general.

Sounds like something a bot would complain about.

I’m well aware. Thank you for the edit so a blue didn’t have to

Bots are better at captchas than real people.

I haven’t seen this once.

I cant be sure, but this sounds like you have a roaming IP address and you need to set it to static. The game is seeing you bounce around somehow, and is like “This feels automated”.

Also, do you have the Authenticator applied?

They target what they can fix. The bots in game are winning so there is no way they will let the bots on the forums win too.

Are you playing on a VPN or something?

I don’t get these check which makes me think there’s something fishy about the IP address blizzard is seeing on their end for you

I’m surprised the captcha is on the login and not triggered in game well after.

Bot operators just login normally thru a captcha and then set+forget their bots afterwards.

Me neither, until this afternoon.

Hrrmmm… it shouldn’t be, never had it set that way before. I’ll have to check it out. And no, on the authenticator. I just never wanted to use it, so I never bothered to set it up in my account.

Nope, I’m sure not.

Go ahead and set it up, if I were you. That may prevent the captcha, but its good to have so you dont get hacked. Its baked into the Bnet phone app now.

If you can, you might want to do that. It is part of the security detection criteria. If an account has an Auth on it, the criteria for triggering a login challenge or account lock changes. The system considers an account with an Auth to be more secure and you can log in from more than one location, a new device, etc. without triggering the other account security methods. Instead it will just ask for your Auth code.

Huh? I haven’t seen any such pop-up prompt

But then again all my stuff has the “keep me logged in” checkbox checked for convenience, so it’s rare for me to actually have to manually type out my password - I just fire up the launcher, hit the “Play” button, and go

Maybe it’s a new or recent thing? Idk

Odd, I have never seen such a window or message. Perhaps you did something that drew attention to yourself?

I never saw this pop-up window either, Caelin, before this afternoon. Game was giving me grief, decided to delete my Cache, Interface, and WTF folders and try again before submitting a bug ticket, which I’ve done enough times in the past, went to log in and… wham!
Much like Warzug posted above, it was a “Huh?” moment.

And as per:

Sadly, for some reason, my system won’t open the ‘Properties’ window for my Wi-Fi settings so I can’t change it to IPv4. ‘Details’ window says it’s set to IPv6 and IPv6 Temporary.
If I have to call my service provider and sit on hold for an hour to change that setting …
uuuuugh…

Just, to heck with it. It is what it is I guess.
