I think their dev and design team were brilliant. It is their itemization team I think werenât good. There are a ton of items that show a fundamental lack of understanding of game mechanics which you would expect an itemization team to understand. Example: due to the 2.0 speed, Barman Shanker was on par with Perditionâs Blade from a dagger standpoint. If that was the only example, then it could be laughed off, but it was all too common. Eventually the designers and devs had to rework that particular bit of code to resolve this issue.
This is actually why I donât call it catch up gear. The raiding player base as a whole wasnât clearing CâThun. There were guilds clearing, but definitely not as many as should have been clearing that 40 man. Not saying Huhuran was necessarily the only culprit for that btw (CâThun was ours back then). But it was definitely a struggle for a lot of guilds. Little bit of foresight into raid mechanics should have told the itemization team they needed more NR gear available.
It would have been better served to introduce on the same patch. For AQ as well as fleshing out cenarion rep and keeping professions relevant.
Iâm not interested though in playing this version with increased handicaps that were unavailable during vanilla. Extra handicaps anyway :). I have no control over which build we launched on but I can still support this decision.
The new patterns were introduced at or around the launch of the next raid, itâs still technically catch up gear for everyone lagging behind. Regardless of lack of intent.
Edit: Yeah, I see where you are coming from too. Have fun in AQ, boz. I can also understand praising one team and believing another was not up to par.
Yep. I think generally we just donât agree on this topic which is cool lol. I get where you are coming from and respect the opinion. Usually I would share it. The gear is just sooooo bad for any class that soaks that canât wear mail. And a lot of it is totally random too (like the UBRS helm, BRD wrists, etc.).
But like I said, it is all good. Canât agree on everything with everyone lol.
I wonder if those in charge of itemisation considered mail, tank worthy. As Flayed suggested earlier, they werenât as forward thinking as other members of staff at the time.
Iâm sorry, I know youâre feralâs biggest fan. Thatâs the version we play, with warts and all.
No trolling, I wish you and your guild well with AQ.
Lol this video is a joke. Itâs wrong from the very start; poison bolt is every 3 seconds and always has been, and sheen of zanza never worked on this boss and only ever worked on single-target direct magic attacks. It also has healers expected to do 350hps which is likely on a fight where the only people to heal are 2 tanks, but even my crap guildâs priests nearly double that on a fight with a lot of healing to do like Vael. You canât âmathâ HPS the way you do DPS because it is reactive and completely dependent on the amount of damage going out in any one circumstance, rising with more damage done and falling when youâre tank and spanking.
Its conclusion about NR gear is also âit dependsâ which, as with every video and âanalysisâ of this sort that hypes up the difficulty of content that below-average groups are now steamrolling, means âno, you donât need itâ.
Every thread like this on every forum inevitably links to some nerdâs youtube video as if itâs definitive proof. Theyâll be doing the same when Naxx is around the corner, linking to that one guyâs âis Naxx really that hard??â video where he acts like getting world buffs or buying shadow protection pots for Loatheb is some kind of onerous burden that only crazy people do. Silly.
Agreed. Although NR isnât that big of a deal, itâd be nice to get some wear / gold out of these profession patterns. Especially since once Naxx drops itâs going to be all about Frost Resist, which, those patterns take raid materials to make.
