Seriously, Anduin?

“No…THIS is the Horde,” says Anduin, comforting Saurfang by referencing the relatively paltry numbers who have come to support him, as opposed to the majority who are apparently still on board with Sylvanas.

And then he counters Saurfang’s litany of the Horde’s evils by apparently implying that the Alliance is bad too. Because…Arthas and Daelin Proudmore?

Are we really going to pin Arthas on the Alliance? I mean, I know he was from the Alliance originally, but it’s not like he was acting in any sort of Alliance capacity when he did his Bad Stuff. He was all Scourge by then. I’ll sort of give him Daelin, but that was a lot more nuanced than, say, the “Path of Glory” that Saurfang cites.

I dunno. It just seemed pretty pathetic to see the leader of an Alliance that had been brutally attacked by a Horde army led by Saurfang giving comfort to that same Saurfang by telling him, in effect, that the real Horde are still good guys, and hey, the Alliance has done bad stuff too.

Okay, the Alliance has done bad stuff. On rare occasions, and usually when Blizzard wants to justify someone joining the Horde. But compared to what the Horde has done? It’s not in the same ballpark. It’s not even the same sport.

That was a horrible moment for the Alliance “leader.” I cringed on his behalf.

I liked it for what it was.

We’re breaking the cycle, join us.

Honestly this expansion has really made me hate Anduin and not expect his character to grow in anymore positive of a way.

He’s just another Tirion basically, when is he going to marry an Orc?

Felt like that line was written by someone who was still fiercely angry over Taurajo.

The heroes of the Alliance refused to intervene as they watched Arthas go further and further down that path. They willingly stood aside and allowed him to become the lich king instead of stopping him before it came to that.

“We must all fear evil men. But, there is another kind of evil which we must fear most … and that is the indifference of good men.”

The thing is, a Horde citizen is defined as someone who fights with honor, just like an Alliance citizen is defined as someone who fights with justice. Thus we can infer that all the “bad things” the Horde has supposedly done were actually committed by people just pretending to be Horde, but the True Horde is guiltless.

Now we just need to go out and exterminate all the people who aren’t True Horde and/or True Alliance, and all will be set to right.

Huh?

He culled Stratholme on his own authority, effectively firing Uther. And after that he was off on his own.

Who are these “heroes of the Alliance” you cite, and when did they “willingly stand aside and allow him to become the Lich King”?

Pretty sure I was still in the middle of the Alliance campaign when he started burning cities…

When he said “hey, we’re gonna purge this city” and Jaina and Uther were like “okay, we’re not gonna watch, but you do you”.

This is your big complaint about Anduin?
Look, he’s a marshmellow, I’ll forgive him for trying desperately to see the best in everyone.
But after Undercity, he really sunk zero time and effort into the “oh yeah, Sylvanas can turn into smoke and fly away if you get her cornered” problem!?

Uther, Jaina, and Terenas did nothing to stop him. Jaina could have froze him solid and dragged him back to Capital City as soon as his solution was to “purge” the city of Stratholme. They did nothing to stop him from descending down that path.

@Carma: come on, it’s God King Blanduin the Gary Stu pet character of Golden the male character neuter expert!!! What were you expecting, actual dignity?

@Spuddyc: Joining you people sound hazardous enough to expect the actual death of useful braincells… So excuse me, but I HARD pass.

I have better self respect than that.

Blizzard should fire their horrendous writers and hire some quality employees. The Horde that supports Sylvanas are suddenly “loyalists,” whatever the f*** that means.

The Horde is no more. It’s basically just the Alliance leading all races at this point.

Only thing they did right was kill off sad boy Saurfang.

Also, he didn’t do all that purging alone. He had a lot of troops. What happened to all of them? Arthas took all the blame for what was really a group effort.

Yes, and then get murdered by all his guards.
He was the prince, not her or uther.

Yeah I admit that was very odd how Anduin spoke about Arthas. I pin a lot of things on the Alliance but Arthas was never one of them.

So…does this mean Horde and Alliance are all friends again?

That doesn’t matter. He wasn’t the KIng, as Uther pointed out.

If we’re laying Arthas, who was part of the old Alliance of Lordaeron, at the feet of the current Alliance, then uh…

Well that doesn’t work out well for the Horde side of things.

To be completely fair, I think people tried to reign Arthas in.

He just ended up killing them because he was Prince, then later made sure they were dead when he was a death knight.
