Ret is meant to be played outside of group content and occasionally in PvP

I did a 17 with an ele sham ret pally and dh and it was fine. Ret pally as 15k overall ish

For sure. I’m just getting rolling and i know it’ll be a while before that becomes a wall. But for some reason knowing that wall exists irks me. Also it just feels worse in that context just from a design standpoint. Like when I hop over to outlaw, for example, it feels like such a better fit, kit to content.
Make friends and they wont care.
The ret pally in my grp was our h pally we subbed a fellow priest in for that key.

Unless you’re playing hunter or warlock in this season, that same wall applies to everyone else. Not just you.
You’re going to have a difficult time getting invited to pugs, but that’s because people are real dumb. Ret is on par with every other melee spec in terms of raw dps in M+. It’s just that pugs seem to think that you can’t do anything below a +20 unless you bring

My guild’s ret pally did a 15 gambit with a prot, a holy and two other rets. I’m told the run was just wall to wall gold sfx and hammers flying everywhere.

I’m pretty sure it is the worst m+ DPS. Maybe assassination is a close second.
I swapped my main this patch from hpally to fury war till i got 3k (even pugging!) then swapped to blood dk and think im 2.7k with that now just horsing around. this dude was demoted to being just the forum main right now.
I havent ret since legion cause gcd made the class play slow. Legit sitting there with nothing to press button wise. I hear thats not the case anymore but im nott gearing a third character. My io stats for s3 tell me to go outside more already.

It’s damage is pretty sad compared to other specs, and your damage without wings is sad too. It needs buffed, not a ton, but it’s not where you would want it. I’d buff maybe concecrate and divine storm. Would give it a very minor boost in ST with conc where I think it performs fine, and what it needs in AOE to be competitive.
Alternatively, I’d maybe buff all baseline abilities more and reduce the effectiveness of wings while making it a shorter CD.
If you can Devine Toll every 45 seconds in DF it would make sense to me for wings to be every 1.5 min. For good minor/major cooldown rotation synergy that feels really really good to play for current arms warrior and arcane mage.

Yeah as sad as ret is, some of these are even worse. Enhance is pretty good awful in M+ too.
Shadow as a spec now and in DF needs a bullet and totally redone.
it’s actually not and does quite good dps.

What key levels?
He does in the 20s, and go look at spec leaderboards for ret, feral they are good enough to complete 25s +
I swear some people just assume meta is the only comp capable of doing those key levels.
