Separate 'Iron Soul' Server? Alternative to opt-in buff

There’s clearly a lot of division about what restrictions the hardcore community would like on the hardcore servers.

I know that a lot of players who have not played hardcore much or at all are definitely in the camp of ‘no restrictions’ and a lot players who have been playing on the hardcore addon for the past year feel that restrictions are necessary and intrinsic for the hardcore experience.

I think an opt-in buff or relying on the addon to continue to support the community will result in division in the community and inevitable conflict on the hardcore server. I’ve already seen lots of verbal abuse between proponents of the two perspectives that we can likely expect will continue into the official release.

I expect there will be discrimination amongst players once official releases.

Why not give both camps what they want? Why not create a separate Iron Soul realm where trading, mailing, and auction house is restricted pre-60? Would that not solve the entire debate and protect both camps from abuse?

agreed. an opt in buff is dumb, its about the way the server runs (or feels even), not so much the player. id even restrict it after 60. i bet some crazy ppl will still clear everything, and that would be so epic.

Just play on a normal classic server and delete if you die. Hardcore should be hard not just 1 death and done.

You spam the same exact sentence in every thread.

Cross-posts aren’t forbidden on WoW forums?

Just play on a normal classic server and don’t trade or use the AH.

See how that works?

Blizzard is putting the systems in for a base layer, and everything else the player wants to impose on themselves for a challenge is still entirely possible.

Hows that HARDCORE?
Its harder but not hardcore by any means.

Why did all this start? Where’d the heat come to create an actual Hardcore WoW server? Did it come from the standard player base or did it come from the people who played on the HC servers with the addon?
Or did it come from a standard WoTLK or Retail players?

Keep it difficult. Not every other perk in the game except you have one life.

SFF and hardcore are two different genres you can keep spamming every thread with the same single digit talking point all you want

Because hardcore does not mean difficult. Being “hardcore” is being committed or dedicated. You are committing to not dying, that’s the actual concept basis for hardcore. It did not originate in WoW, it adapted but a lot of people are solely looking for the base hardcore, they only went along with it because of “it being how it was done” on unofficial servers where other people were not hardcore.

To be honest with you, I don’t know. I’m not entirely sure if there was any heat from anywhere, or if Blizzard themselves just saw all the hype and content for it and decided to make it official.

100% want nothing to do with opt in BS.

give SSF people their own server, and let the tradegroupers do their thing too, it’s not like blizzard is against dividing the player base, they have classic and dragonland both running, and now with hc coming just give both camps what they want
