Best way to know is not a troll post. When said this is not trol post.
The entitled PC SJW generation are older and playing our games now
I think a lot of it will blow over; It is a knee jerk reaction that went overboard.
Ah, the refreshing age of the defense and encouragement of being offensive. I mean, people shouldn’t be so hurt when other people say hurtful things. What a bunch of pansies.
I think the new term is “Sticks and Stones may break my bones, but words will violently emotionally scar me.” Thus the rally to silence the one causing the boo-boo’s. People are hyper sensitive to things these days and it’s unfortunate because it really deflects and deflates things we -should- be upset about if our attention is on ya’ know whatever minor thing your relating to OP.
People just tried to make the internet tamed so it could raise their children for them like television used to.
A few good rules help all the way around:
Think before you speak.
The sun is actually at the center of the universe.
Treat others as you want to be treated.
You never know what kind of day someone else is having.
A drop of empathy can cause ripples of kindness.
These are the exact types of posts that are both toxic and what is hurting our society. Guy didn’t even bother to read the OP. Saw words resembling someone not drinking the proverbial PC Kool-aid and immediately began reaching for hateful buzz words attacking someone’s character. THIS, is the core problem of society. Judging someone’s character based on their opinions politically. This is why you have Trump.
That is amazing. I love the ripples of kindness. Thank you for that.
Same, well not daily at me personally (I’m pretty cool.)
However, here is the difference:
Historically, at least here in the United States, we are the “winners.” This is why it doesn’t bother me, if people use “white person” racial slurs. Most of them are hilarious, after all.
Other “race” racial slurs, are the embodiment of what they endured in the past. So when someone says it, that feeling is carried along with the word. This is why I don’t approve of “rappers” using such words, just to “own them.” Those words, for a VERY long time, have been MORE than just a racial “insult.” They carry more weight than that, they also basically mean “less than.”
I mean, even if you called me a “barbarian” I’d take it as a truism rather than an insult.
Or you could say I was no good at Basketball, which is VERY true of me. So none of these are going to “hurt.”
If you don’t want to get into trouble, don’t be a jerk. It’s not hard.
Or hey, be a jerk. Sometime’s it’s worth it. I get it. I’ve been there. However, one does not get to cry about getting muzzled when you know full well you were asking for it. You either learn to express yourself in a more polite and diplomatic manner, or you get used to being put in the corner. There’s no wrong choices…well, okay, the mods probably prefer the former, but I won’t judge you. I never judge the entertainment.
…and with that, I’m going to act like a good girl, slink behind the couch, and pretend to be very interested in this squeaky toy.
Yeah emotions are running wild anger, hate, sorrow …i guess its more due to society than gaming
What’s that now?
It’s been refreshing to read Fleb’s and Chad’s posts. I wish more were like that.
It’s called Outrage Culture and it’s currently in full swing but worry not. Silliness like this has a way of either burning out or consuming itself. Personally, I could never live like that. It sounds so exhausting trying to find shadows were none exist.
Is it such a terrible thing to curb your own behavior in order to be courteous in a public space? You talk like being asked to tone it down and be appropriate in a public space is a new phenomenon. It isn’t.
“I should be free to say offensive things without people acting offended!” That is a sense of entitlement right there.
Empathy is a good thing. So is just keeping your yap shut and not inflicting your dubious opinions and humor on people you don’t even know.
