Dropping like flies.

Remember when they said you wouldn’t hear about anymore after Kaplan left? Then a senior artist and now senior quest designer leave. Those ARE just the ones we heard about.

I rather be optimistic and say that new devs could bring more innovation to the game.

They’re still working from home, and going back to the office probably has a hand in some of the departures. Many companies are now finding that employees that enjoyed working from home are taking new opportunities that allow them to keep working from home when asked to return to the office. There are now loads of job recruitment ads that have “fully work-from-home position” in all caps at the top, because the recruiters know how many folks want to keep working remotely.

Without him saying so, it’s all speculation why he moved on, but it is important to remember that people leave jobs all the time for reasons that have everything to do with their lives and families, and nothing at all to do with the companies they’re leaving. Don’t read too much into it.

Nothing against the quest designer but the quests this expansion where horrible, so i agree with your statement.

While I do like the overal story, I tried redoing the questline and just… bailed when I hit maldraxxus. Never one to point fingers but yea.

Overall, I think all of WoW needs some fresh juice, which is happening. Hopefully it’ll be people passionate about the game, and not just passionate about making money.

Makes me wonder though, there has been a trail of people leaving and the ones that have spoken out painted a bleak picture. It may be nothing, but it may also be something.

My previous place of work went through a “transition” in team with us being assured it was “normal” and “nothing to worry about”. Turned out upper management was somehow even more toxic than the worker team. That business is no longer in operation. Just personal experience, teaches you things.

Anyone who works for blizzard in 2021 is definitely not passionate about money.

Wouldn’t be any worse than the lore murder that’s already been repeatedly done.

If you can spend multiple years extinguishing the Dark Iron only to have them join without a reason, then you can have the Scarlet Crusade - which literally doesn’t exist after the beginning of WotLK - retconned back into existence and being in the alliance.

Besides onslaught harbor which you also destroy later.

Anyone who works as a game developer in general is not passionate about money, lol

But this guy isn’t speaking out and saying bad things that I can see, so reading into his motives isn’t really helpful.

i’ll also add a quest that has the bronze dragonflight acknowledge that wod’s timeline is too unstable to keep open, having the player go back in time to make sure it never happened

Ya’ll act like nobody has ever quit Blizz before this year lmao.

Heh.

In yesterday’s world, we’d be approaching a point where a corporation would have to acknowledge the current state (stinky) and offer a roadmap of reset and rebuild.

But that was yesterday’s world.

Companies just keep the plates spinning until they’re knee-deep in shards these days.

Let’s see what happens!

Just to be clear, it is very common for people to not spend their entire careers at the same place when it comes to game developing

The point of these post are to insinuate that the individual leaving the job is the ONLY capable one on planet earth of doing a good job.

It’s a foolish notion because the leave could be 1 out of a billion reasons. What we DO know is some fresh talent will be brought up and this is in most cases a very good thing.
