quote from Ion
“Primarily, this is an in-game system,” Hazzikostas said. “The overwhelming majority of Tender every month is earned logging in, claiming it, and doing any of a wide array of activities to claim the rest, and that’s not something we’re looking to change or subvert or upend.”
If they want it too be an ingame thing, leave it ingame, having bundles with “free” tenders goes directly against this quote
All of 'em cost different amounts, including “sets” that just the murloc backpacks
True enough if all you think of it is the transmog then sure, and I would also have to apologise for getting it wrong (even if I do believe the sets when they first came out cost 25€, although its entirely possible I’m misremembering it)
Yes, it is a bundle of a transmog set and Trader’s Tender
That’s an image of the Fireplume Regalia (which also explains why I was both right and wrong in what I remembered about the price)
Its a bundle, not just a transmog set - if it sticks around on the store I’m willing to bet that the price would probably drop down to 20€ like the rest of the sets
Doesn’t change that its still a bundle
Even if I do have to apologise for some really unnecessary snark on my side
TIL having a discussion and posting a quote is snapping at some one.
please dont be so sensitive there are a lot more harsh things in this world than posting a quote
Yeah OP, don’t worry about being gaslit by the Stockholm sufferers. “But muh bundles” is rank legalism, akin to “I’m not touching you I’m not touching you I’m not touching you.” It requires a certain type of mental derangement to justify, but that same derangement seems prevalent in the MMO community. Obviously people caught on immediately to what activblizz was doing, and actiblizz used nu-corpospeak to pretend they weren’t doing what they observably were. And they’ll keep doing it because they’re able to sell twenty minutes of some intern’s work for $25 dollars, and if they sell it to two people they’ve doubled their investment on the labor.
Allow me to borrow this observation but also point it right back at you:
If YOU are getting the bundle for just the currency, then yes you have bought the bundle for the currency - but that’s just your own point of view on the subject matter where you also ignore what else you got for it
Most folks would look at the set itself and determine whether it was worth it as that’s what you are actually buying
No, you clearly don’t get how the system works since you keep using the phrasing of “Need”; there’s precisely zero need for any of this and if you lack the self-control to purchase something that’s entirely on your head (which, again, with how you are arguing it sounds entirely like lack of self-control issue)
No, Trader’s Tenders aren’t being sold on the store - regardless of however much you want to pretend that they are
Who knows when that will happen. FOMO is a thing and having to wait a year, six months, two years, etc. for something to show up again isn’t ideal. Which is why people would jump on it now while it’s available, thus, the need to get more tender. I don’t agree with it, but that’s how people work and we should understand that this is a form of manipulation. They (Blizz) obviously WANT people to buy these bundles with tender. They aren’t doing this out of the goodness of their hearts. They’re trying to make money and this is how they’re going about it.
I don’t agree with what they’re doing here. Let me make that clear.
Do you really not understand the concept that some people want the shiny new thing and won’t be interested in waiting, or are you arguing in bad faith?
Also, when it comes around again, do you think that everything on the Post will be 100% recycled content and nothing new at all? I mean, Tender is a finite resource. If you wait for it the next time it comes around, that just means you’re setting yourself up to have to put something else on the back burner.
It’s a clear as day cycle. And it absolutely fits into the calculus behind offering Tenders through the cash shop.
This is the thing exactly. Selling them in bundles is MORE predatory than selling them individually, because in order to get tenders for something you want to buy, you have to also purchase $20 worth of badly-textured robes that you DON’T want to buy. Obviously this doesn’t apply if you like what’s in the bundle, but if you are limited on the total number of tenders you can get, and purchasing a bundle you don’t care for is the only way to get extra tenders for something you do want, it’s obviously inferior to just buying the tenders for straight cash.
Actiblizz knows this, and will use it was a pretext for selling tenders for straight cash at a future date, due to “community demand.”
Not trying to argue because I genuinely don’t know, but have the details of this been confirmed? Is it a set cycle so we will know when things are popping back up? I’m assuming new stuff will be added from time to time. Will things be removed?
They outright said they were going to sell the tender in bundles at different amounts. People who want the transmog NOW get a bonus of some tenders. Those who aren’t necessarily worried about FOMO can wait and earn tenders to buy the transmog later.
Will they sell tender by itself at some point? Probably. It will end up something like Diablo IV’s platinum and Overwatch’s coins. The real question is if there will still be a monthly fee when that happens or will they rely on people with more money than time to subsidize others completely. There won’t be much of a reason for WOW token purchases then.
Hasn’t every transmog set to date sold for $20 USD?
Seems pretty clear that they are selling 500 Tender on the cash shop for $5 USD. They’re basically just using a semantic technicality to say they’re not selling it directly.
