Warrior tanks have it hard.
Its the hardest class to farm in World of Warcraft.
So my plan is to sell what i like doing. Tank Services © ℗
Ill sell runs for say first rare / greens/ or reserve a item what ever it may be even gold in some cases.
I was even thinking of making a Tanking Guild based around this.
Maybe a Guild needs geared tanks for the four hourse man in naxx? guess what we have tanks for hire!
Just a thought tho
What do you guys think about this?
Do you think its mest up and takes away from the feel of vanilla?
or do you think this is a great idea and would try it out yourself?
Would you buy a Tank service © ℗?

For 5 mans that might work but I think most raiding guilds wont need to rent a tank

Agreed. For 5 mans, absolutely. For raids, 4h in particular, guilds are going to know what they need and be prepared for it.

5 mans yes, raid guilds won’t want you. Not to pay you anyway.
What do I think ? If you get too greedy then you’ll get a bad rep and no one will want your services.
Remember you will be in a closed community.

you don’t To greedy.
OFC id run freinds/guildys
and id make alot of friends along the way and they will know how good of a tank i am coz i plan to level via 5mans mostly
No, I think this is fine and a legit way for Prot Warriors to make their gold. I plan to do this at least for a while and advertise my services on the realm forum.
Classic chat will be filled with “LF1M tank for XX dungeon and G2G” type spam. If you play Warrior expect to get whispers from randoms every time you log in asking if you want to tank something.
If you go this route I recommend treating the other people in the party like clients, meaning be professional, polite and have your crap together. Come up with your own ground rules and make them known up front. For example I would insist on having party lead for marking since you can’t mark without it.
Practice a lot along the way. I would suggest not to “reserve” any items on lower level dungeon runs cause everyone leveling will need dungeon gear as upgrades. at low levels you want to be making a good name for yourself and a good rep.

Naxx guild raids would most certainly be looking for a more long term tank. And IMO tanking Naxx is more of a privilege than a for hire kinda thing.
5 mans, MC and Onyxia pugs sure.
Selling tanking services is pretty common practice for dungeons and, later on in the life cycle, MC/Ony. Just beware of getting too greedy. There’s a difference between saying “first righteous orb goes to me” and “all sellables reserved to me”. If you do the latter, you’ll have a really hard time finding quality people and you’ll get a bad reputation.

Interesting idea. I suppose this is a practical concept.
Generally, I don’t run dungeons unless I need something there, or helping friends/guildies. So I suppose, this would make sense for those times when you don’t need anything and people are asking for a tank, and you don’t mind spending your time.
At 60 when I’m gearing out and not playing with friends, I do intend to let the party know what item(s) I’m looking for and to please be mindful that’s the only reason I’m here, etc. In those situations, I’d generally intend to form my own parties to reduce the competition for plate gear, etc.

This is like “creating a bad reputation 101”.
MC and Onyxia aren’t hard enough for people to care and you’ll have all the competition in the world.
People will just ignore you if you make high demands for easy raids and they won’t buy you for stuff like BWL, AQ40 or Naxx anyway.
Good luck getting people to pay you for dungeons.
Nobody wants to spend gold and dungeons are easy as hell.
Also, Warriors can cleave stuff to death. It isn’t even remotely difficult to farm on a warrior.

Good for 5 mans and PuGs, but not for AQ40 or Naxx. Those guilds will have their OTs geared.
And another thing, why would people pay for a tank when the healers are harder to come by anyway?
It’s much harder to farm on a healer than a Warrior.
This is just greedy.

Be in a raiding guild for those 40 mans and sell your services on the side for dungeons and Ony.
Don’t forget about raid lockout either.
You’d be surprised at how many leveling tanks never make it to 60.

I think you’ll be surprised at how incorrect you are about this. There are a ton of people who would rather pay 50-100g to get a dungeon tank rather than spend 1-2 hours looking for one.
In regards to MC/Ony pugs; when you have 35-39 people together and all you’re waiting on is a tank, you’re on a limited time schedule before people start getting tired of waiting and leave. You end up spending just as much time looking for replacements as you do for the tank themselves. Again, tons of people would rather pay someone 100g to tank than to risk their group falling apart or having to manage the constant inviting/leaving for 2 hours.
Yeah, if you get too greedy, people wont like you and wont group with you. If you ask for reasonable payment for your tanking services, you’ll most definitely find people willing to accept those terms to save the hassle of tank searching.

Yeah, it’s a shame that they can’t level as a dps.

It was quite commonplace for warriors to tank Strat Live runs in exchange for the first couple of Righteous Orb drops, as their method of “farming”. I imagine it’ll be similar on Classic.
No one is going to pay 50-100g for a tank for a 5-man.
No one is that stupid.
And yeah, if your tank drops out for an Ony/MC pug that sucks.
