Dime to a dollar housing is intentionally like this in FF14 to keep X number of people motivated to stay perma subbed.
If you look in MMO graveyard, I’m sure you can find plenty of examples…or the others that have been turned into free to play zombies

When was the last time WoW had good musics since the Anduin’s theme and WoW’s opening vanilla cinematic.

I played FF14 a lot and always fell asleep and never found people to talk to or play with.
At least in WoW you pretty much get tossed into the population and there are people all around right from the start.

I’d be really careful trying to act as though XIV has the moral high ground in that department, lmao. Especially when Squeenix condones the sale of cybering for game currency when FFXIV is rated for players as young as 13. 
Eh, not really. We don’t know who is #2 or #3 anymore, because numbers for games aren’t all publicly available on demand and new MMOs are constantly coming out. For a short while New World was very high but that’s long dropped. And also most mmos are f2p/p2w or of the like so they still fail vs wow that is p2w technically but not f2p.
I honestly have to agree, I actually take time to play FFXIV and truly love how they executed the Professions. Also naming discrimination is not really a thing on the game as well as the addition of Surnames. I love FFXIV! 
WoW doesnt let them be audited.
EVE Online, Final Fantasy, GW2, they all have web services and APIs you can use to get numbers of players by passive or active stats.
I recognize the most complete API that exists is the EVE one, but you can really have an idea in the others as websites gather data from the public api to find characters. WoW dont have that anymore.

That goes the same ways for WoW, except TRP3 mod isn’t hiding it in WoW.

I hated FFXIV. WoW will always be my favorite and better in my eyes. And I have played nearly every FF game. While I love Final Fantasy I just don’t think its good as an MMO.
Also, while FFXIV is currently good and selling well, it started off as a disaster and Square really didn’t give a damn.
Not to mention have you literally played any of their other games besides FFXIV? They are not really a great game company. The last Kingdom Hearts was absolute trash.
WoW cannot be salvaged or saved.
The IP has some use though, like WotLK classic server etc.
