It’s “fine,” yes. But it’s also fine if Blizzard makes a new book mount for the store and I buy it.
As long as its clearly different then Idc what cosmetics are in the store if it doesn’t reduce from the amount that are being put in game. Which expecially with high res good quality ones can be said that is happening. I don’t want 9.2 to launch like korthia did with 25 new mount consisting of 5 models and 5 recolours of each (numbers made up because idk how many there really were)
To be frank, I’m surprised at some people in this thread that cannot fathom people enjoying the game in a different way than they personally do.
While I might personally enjoy the grind or challenge (For example), a dark souls game, of repeatedly failing only to eventually succeed, and get a dopamine hit from succeeding. Not everyone experiences those same feelings.
Further, not everyone experiences good feelings when working with a group in group content. Sometimes the group -is- the negative experience.
I seriously do not understand why people are so angrily attacking the OP just because they have different priorities, and do not take pleasure from video games the same way they do.
He’s not trying to take anything away from you, he’s simply asking for a different option. You might not personally find the option ideal, but his suggestion clearly isn’t outside of the realms of possibility, and he’s also asking for something different, but similar.
It doesn’t take away from your accomplishments, so I do not see why you’d care? Is it strictly because he asked for it from the cash shop? Would it have been less offensive to you if it was just a similar mount from somewhere other than the mage tower? I get some people get unreasonably angry at the mere mention of the cash shop, but you do realize -everything- in the cash shop can be bought with gold right?
Transferring Gold into b,net balances is a thing, and it’s how many players purchase cash shop mounts without paying a dime.
At the current price, most of the store mounts average to about 400,000 (Last I checked it was about 200k/$15) gold per mount, and you’d have $5 B,net balance left over. Which is cheaper than quite alot of in-game mounts you can purchase off of vendors right now.
This price fluxuates… when the price gets down to like 150,000 like it was before it’s significantly cheaper.
It’s not like farming gold is hard, at least according to some players.
Hi, Frank! I prefer the name Nyaria, but I understand the need for an alias on the forums. There is so much hostility here.
Right?
It’s standard MMO toxicity. Lots of them don’t respect people with different priorities. RPers used to get ridiculed and bullied all the time, along with people who played casual games. It goes back to the old-fashioned view of assigning worth/value to people based on their accomplishments and victories. Ironically, I have plenty of both - I simply didn’t enjoy myself when taking on difficult challenges.
Yes! There’s some sort of emotional barrier to understanding that is keeping them from understanding this point. I’m not sure why they think I want to steal their mount from them. By all means, enjoy it. A book mount is just too good an idea (with far too much potential) to not revisit.
I did, at one point, suggest a book mount be awarded for The Loremaster achievement.
I appreciate your post. Thank you for the much needed sanity. It was a breath of fresh air.
I attach an outdated encyclopedia to a tricycle with a lot of duct tape. The duct tape has a cool unicorn pattern on it.
Here you go! Fifty gold.
Book backwards is kooB… let that sink in for a moment. kooB…
It means absolutely nothing but its fun to say
I honestly pictured the mage tower book mount differently and much bigger, but for the mage tower achievement I say it’s a good size.
If they do decide to make it a in shop it should be a pet/mount combo. When you want to mount it grows larger in size where you can sit and ride on it. It can sparkle and shine, because it’s a magic book that can be a pet and a mount.
I’m all for this, because I’m rather disappointed in the Spelltome’s appearance and riding pose. The whole time you’re riding it, you stand stiffly and awkwardly cast something… so uncomfortable-looking.
I want a book mount like in the movie Mirror Mask. It’s open like the Spelltome, but you don’t stand on it, you don’t surf on it, you don’t have the spread-legged mounted pose, you sit on it. Pure /sit, same as any race does, wiggling Tauren hooftips and everything. I think books are supposed to be fun start to finish, not a challenge. Sure, tracking down every book could be considered a challenge, but it’s really not, it’s fun.
Or maybe, they can pick something else from the content they do like doing. Maybe the book being unique to MT is what makes it desirable. I don’t like PvP, and I don’t expect reskins of the PvP mounts to be in the store. I don’t ever plan on mythic Sylvannas until it’s old content, doesn’t mean I need a Sylvannas mount in the store.
Just accept that there are some thing you won’t get, and some things you probably shouldn’t get.
This is like someone who watches football demanding a purchasable Heisman trophy so they can feel like a hero watching the game.
The developers could make different pattern/color book mounts with different effects and have them drop from different mages in dungeons throughout every expansion, thus encouraging people to play at least a little bit of each expansion.
I want a book mount that has really high INT and makes random snarky remarks about NPC’s as I fly past them.
It’s beautiful.
Day 1 player here.
It was but it also wasn’t. Classic is a completely different animal. Many of these people have been theorycrafting, playing on private servers, and preparing for the experience for many many years.
Back then, many of us came over from Everquest or whatever else, and it all felt so new. The original leveling experience took an incredibly long time I suppose because no one really knew what they were doing.
Raids were incredibly difficult because you had like 5 people actually participating, pumping huge numbers trying to keep the raid afloat. It didn’t really change until we stepped into Naxx and people really needed to pay attention to mechanics.
Most people had no mods, decursive aside. I used to have a screenshot of my first time in molten core. Pretty sure my entire screen was covered in random bars and crap I don’t even know what the hell what was going on.
Anyway, just some thoughts, and some giggles from the memories of insanity of the times.
