I have set keybinds in SHIFT/ALT/CTRL, and most of my heals are on the "SHIFT" modifier. To make it so that if I press CTRL I do self healing, how do I need to set it up? If I press let's say SHIFT+1 to do self healing I need to press SHIFT+CTRL+1, just CTRL+1 or something else?
I'm certain the option is called Self Cast and it's a drop down on one of Interface screens. Bring up the game menu and click Interface. I think Combat screen maybe it's where it is.
Technically it applies to any spell that can be cast on a friendly, not-dead target, which is more than just healing spells. Without the mod button, the spell targets whatever you have targeted. Hold the mod button, and it casts on you without changing your target.

Thanks! Sorry for the confusion. I understand that, what I don't understand is how to properly set it up.
If I choose "CTRL" as a self healing modifier, and my heal is binded at SHIFT+1, what do I press to self heal? :D

Bare with me now... What if I choose SHIFT? Is it possible?
As an fyi, if you get deep into healing you're going to want better ways of doing it and you'll want to use macros that can add a huge amount of flexibility and efficiency to how you can heal.
11/13/2018 03:50 AMPosted by TinkerizmoI'm not really sure either your shift-1 will always cast on you or it will never activate at all because the shift is getting reserved for the self cast and not reach the action.

Like what? I have to say I have macros/weakauras for both BM and WW but nothing at all for MW.

Sorry for taking so long to answer, but binding a spell to SHIFT+1 and pressing CTRL+SHIFT+1 doesn't work with self-healing.
I am using Bartender 4 and I have selected "CTRL" as self-casting modifier.
To note that in the keybinding setting from Blizzard UI "Self-Casting" is unbound and it seems like it's looking for a combination of keys more than a modifier.
What did I do wrong?
As far as making bartender work, I don't use that add-on.
Of course CTRL+1 is already bound. I have all Modifiers already taken…
So again, if I have a heal bound to SHIFT+1, what do I need to press to self-heal? CTRL+1? SHIFT+CTRL+1?
Sorry but I’m little confused.
SHIFT-CTRL-1
stupid character limit minimums…
Unbind Ctrl-1. Then ctrl will be free to use as part of your self heal.
By default Ctrl-1 to Ctrl-0 are bound to pet abilities (like hunter, warlock, mage pets not pokemon-style battle pets). It doesn’t matter if your class has or doesn’t have a pet, that explicit keybinding for ctrl-1 will take priority over everything else and reserve ctrl for that purpose.
So forgive me for keeping asking… We are binding the self-heal to CTRL+1, more than using CTRL as a modifier (to be added to existing combination)?
Also - and I’m just speaking hypothetically here - what if I have a heal bound to 1 and a heal bound to SHIFT+1? When I press CTRL+1 which one is going to be self casted?
Again - sorry for making this complicated but something doesn’t adds up and I’m eager to learn! ![]()
You said your ctrl-1 is mapped to a specific keybinding. When you press “1” and “Ctrl” it does that thing which given your description of things has nothing to do with healing.
Ctrl is now reserved for that action whenever the 1 key is also pressed.
If you want to use Ctrl and (Shift-1) to do something else like self heal, you need to unbind Ctrl-1.
CTRL-SHIFT-[key] and CTRL-[key] should count as separate binds, just like you can have them as separate binds in the KB interface.
Then I got nothing…
Give it a shot anyways.
If it doesn’t work. Easy Peasy to restore that 1 single keybind right?
If it does work. There you go.
So you are saying that I can combine modifiers for extra binds? How to do that? So far choosing CTRL as self heal and pressing CTRL+SHIFT+KEY did not self casted anything (my heals are bound to SHIFT+[Key])
I just asked what would happen in the eventuality that I have one heal on SHIFT+1 and a different heal on 1. In this scenario CTRL+1 is unbound. When I press CTRL+1 what self heal does it cast? The one bound to 1 or SHIFT+1?
What Elvenbane says makes a little more sense to me (you add CTRL to ANY key combination and it self casts), but it just doesn’t work.
Question… are the spells you’re casting macros or are they directly from the spell book. I ask, because in the case of macros you need to manually program the self-cast they don’t automatically inherit the self-cast key.
Ok so I just tested this on an alt and it worked as intended.
CTRL-1 Unbound
SHIFT-1 Bound to BottomLeft Action Bar Button 1
Self Cast Key: CTRL
Spell: Vivify (from the spellbook)
SHIFT-1 cast on my target, CTRL-SHIFT-1 cast on me.

Also testing binding CTRL-1 to BottomLeft Action Button 2 and CTRL-SHIFT-1 still worked the same as in the original test.
