Self healing... how?

So I’m still fairly new to warrior, and been bouncing back and forth between fury and arms trying to decide which fits me better, still not sure on that front.

However, a problem i have with both specs is self healing. I die more on this warrior than I’ve ever died on any other character when I’m world questing, or doing the black empire campaign, or visions, or pretty much any time i’m solo. With arms, I have to somehow stop taking damage for 5 seconds for second wind to kick in for heals. With fury, I have a 2 minute cooldown on enraged regeneration just to get maybe 50% of my health back with a couple of bloodthirsts. With either spec, victory rush can only be used after a kill, or once every 30 seconds if specced into impending victory.

It seems no matter what I spec into, or what I do with my gear, I’m always lacking the ability to recover health when I need it most. I come from playing DPS classes that are all able to self heal pretty reliably: shaman, druid, paladin, death knight, hunter, even my rogue seems to handle recovering from damage better than the warrior does.

It’s honestly making me hate playing this character, which I otherwise love… I just cant stand dying all the time and it leaves me feeling like I’m massively gimped compared to every other dps class I play.

For fury especially in open world make sure you use the pvp talent that makes you heal after two raging blows, that is huge. Also the stronger your gear the more dmg you’ll do and that’ll lead to more healing.

Arms your only healing is victory rush really. And azerite stuff.

The pvp thing doesnt really help me in visions though, and opens up the whole getting ganked problem on top of my pve struggles, lol

Your gear is pretty weak and your essences are all rank one. If you want to do visions I highly recommend waiting for like 440-450 and having decent essences before you end up wasting keys on it. It’s doable, but you are ungeared for it.

Its really a gear problem, everyone starts out weak and can’t heal until they get up to at least 440 when you can start killing mobs and stuff in the assaults without struggling.

I got this guy from 430-452 in a day, the difference is huge for survivability as arms.

All my opinion though.

Most healing outside of Fury comes from your gear decisions (Essences, Azerite, etc).

Fury can ramp up healing by taking talents that benefit blooth thirst. For example there is a talent that makes charging increase the heal by about 300%

I’ve had an easier time with Assaults etc as Fury than any of my other 120s, and I just started playing this warrior again (was in like 325 gear from BFA launch). My health just does not go down against Elites.

Look for anything that boosts Bloodthirst, it should be a steady stream of healing even outside of Enraged Regen.

Take Impending Victory, voila you can heal as Arms. Take Defensive Stance and then when in trouble sit in it.

This is only my experience, and I’m not expert by any means, but I feel like fury is the sturdiest dps out there, espescially for solo pve stuff. When leveling at bfa launch I was pulling so much groups at once because I knew I could survive anything.

I rarely need regen, the only time I really use it when I pull too much in a vision and get chain stunned.

Ok, so since Fury’s AoE is focused on spreading your damage to other targets through using whirlwind, the way that you handle self healing in big pack situations is to focus weaker mobs down while spreading damage. That’ll give you more frequent uses of Victory Rush.

Just against elites or whatever, Bloodthirst healing should be more than enough.

If things hit the fan, Enraged Regen should heal you for way more than 50%. I can be nearly dead, pop ER and I’ll be full health in a few seconds.
