Seems like Zen 3 is getting delayed

And this is why we’re getting the XT refresh chips

Press x to doubt

Sounds like they took a page from Intel.
Why release something better when they can milk this with small increments.

lol

honestly this is fine.

I recently saw a 3700x for $275 on amazon. That’s a stellar price.

I mean I don’t doubt that it could be delayed, but I am heavily skeptical it’s because AMD decided to abandon their roadmap and use 5nm instead

You can’t be suggesting AMD isn’t perfect and the people’s processor, can you?

Anything. Sometimes it works and I get a vacation, sometimes it doesn’t. I would bet he’s been suspended for false flagging at least once, too.

Tom’s HW: AMD: Zen 3 Remains on Track for 2020

Makes the XT chips even more of a ripoff

same spit as the anniversary editions of the GPUs and Intel’s KS series.

gotta have a model out to compete with the other guy

thinks XT refresh chips are a ripoff

Pays no attention of coffee lake 8th Gen and coffee lake refresh 9th Gen

9th gen non-HT chips were a ripoff. 9900k, however, was a beast and top gaming chip until the 10900k came along. And XT chips ARE a ripoff. Happy now?

Btw, this thread is about AMD’s pending Zen 3 release. I know simple minds need to make everything about x vs. y (blue vs red in this case), but try to think a lil bit deeper in your analysis of the world. Or at least stay on topic. I know you can’t though and have nothing of value to offer in any tech discussion so back on ignore

8th gen was an actual improvement. i7 got +50% more resources. not sure what you’re complaining about.

9th gen, yeah, it sucked.

actually, you could have compared this to historically any other intel core i-series it would have made more sense than comparing it to coffeelake or its refreshes.

sandy bridge to ivy bridge, no more cores, almost the same ipc, just more frequency.

ivy to haswell was a good ipc jump, so maybe not

but haswell to skylake to kabylake were all relatively small ipc jumps with no improved configurations, only more frequency.

At least 8th, 9th, and 10th gen gave us more reasources/configurations.

Thought people would be stoked that OP’s link was wrong and Zen 3 is coming out in less than 6 months, but I should have known giving AMD’s XT cash grab release right before Zen 3 a slight would result in fanboy tears. At least the people who bought AM4 300- and 400- series mobos and won’t be getting the promised Zen 3 support can have one more chance at an update with XT. Silver lining?

iirc they walked back on locking out the 400 series from support for 3000 series chips.

they might be beta bioses but i think they will support them.

You should read the wording in AMD’s re-revision of their policy. I posted it in the thread on the topic. It is likely many people will not get support for Zen 3

I’m okay with it tbh. Who upgrades a CPU within a generation or two anyway?

And who does it without wanting to upgrade the motherboard for newer features? I contemplated upgrading my 1600…but why? When it becomes too slow, just buy all new at that point and relegate the old system to server/HTPC duty.

It’s kind of silly and IMO just a cashgrab marketing gimmick.

Ultimately it’s not wise to play upgrade games like this.

I would never recommend upgrading from one gen to the next (eg, 1800x to 2700x), but people were lied to. I could see someone buying Ryzen 2000 on AM4 400 planning to grab Zen 3. Now they’re going to, at minimum, have to jump through hoops (eg, sending receipts to AMD, losing compatibility for their old CPU) if they even get support. Big fat if

I do enjoy seeing the fanboys who constantly pushed AMD because hurr durr upgrade path try to defend it though

i mean you got people like this

It seems people like this are easy picking for AMD’s marketing strategy

@Griefs Edit: hurr-durr upgrade path buy every generation and “its cheaper so i save money” are incompatible statements, IMO
