I hope we’re done with the Earthen. They’re completely dull and predictable, and their “shocking twists” about the Titans are things that were hammered home in Dragonflight already (although I guess they bear repeating for all the people who fell asleep halfway through the Dragonflight story).
Heck, I’d rather have an expansion about the orcs and how they like to eat rocks.
Yeah the Earthen arent selling. I get that. What im getting at is that theyre not going to give the dwarves a unifying narrative (it seems). The Goblins look like theyre going to unionize which is a lot more interesting than 11.0. Sadly.
I don’t think I’ll be all that sad about not seeing the Earthen again. Liked the questline to unlock the Earthen and found Merrix interesting as a character, but that is a rare exception to characters I found bland.
Ruffious doesn’t really act like an Earthen, and doesn’t even seem to like them that much. One of the PvP quests in Hallowfall he goes, “These zealots make Machine Speakers look normal!”
What…what is that supposed to mean, Ruffious, what are you trying to say
Granted, they’re designed to be brand and require time to make their own discoveries, but literal machines we encounter have more personality than them at large. I just can’t get all that invested in them.
We literally did their entire story, beat-for-beat, back in Ulduar in Wrath with the iron dwarves, mechagnomes, iron vrykul and other titan servants. The Forge of Wills, Algalon, etc.
We learned back then Titans and their machinery and servants aren’t infallible, and neither are the Titans themselves.
Even had a bit more of that with Argus and Legion with the Pantheon.
Basically, everything Earthen set out to do, retreads upon old grounds.
With the exception of those quests where Earthen lose their memories, it’s all been done before.
Even in Cataclysm, Tol’vir already covered the “Our race of stone cat people has become flesh, what does it mean?” Etc.
Lol Vulpera still have less lore than non-playable races.
Blizzard is probably ready to sperg out because they did a patch that’s not centered around elves and humans so they’ll probably have to get their fix in for the next two years (or so.)
So to answer your question: yes, we’re probably done with dwarves.
There are titan ruins inside the areas of Black Blood corruption, overthrown Titan Watcher Dornic is buried far away somewhere, and deceased Titan Watcher Galan collapased an entrance to protect something important. https://bnetcmsus-a.akamaihd.net/cms/content_entry_media/YTHYACVM9ZYW1734485531449.png
…and eventually the Earthen should meet their father, Mimiron, unless Earthen creation is retconned.
I’ve got a feeling the thraegar will make an impact on the story once we get closer to the world soul. They are the embodiment of earthen who are free of the titan influence, which meshes well with the earthen story themes thus far, and we know that earthen got transformed into the thraegar as they spent time around the world soul at the bottom of the core way. It feels like the goblins are just a fun cul de sac before we go deeper and get close to the world soul.
