Seems like no one uses guild chat anymore

Are there any guilds out there that still use guild chat? I have tried in vain to find a social guild that is actually social in-game. I hate Discord. I am listening to music or have the TV on when I am gaming, so Discord is out, unless I’m raiding or in a dungeon.

I play Alliance, I’m on the busiest servers; Aerie Peak, Stormrage, Dalaran and Proudmoore. I join the largest guilds I can find, and they are completely dead. No one says a word for days on end. They’re all in Discord. Anyone else finding this? Kind of a bummer.

Bro, just don’t have a guild like me. No one will ever ask you to use Discord instead of guild chat again!

Mine does all the time.

My previous guild did too.

You’ve just been unlucky and found ones that don’t.

Does your guild have Discord ?

Mine uses guild chat for some things like call outs for raids or time walking and other assorted things but for most conversations we are usually voice chatting with each other .

My guild uses guild chat all the time. we even use greenwall to link our alt guild into one chat.

Yeah all the guilds I am in (three different ones) have Discord and they use it exclusively. Guild chat is completely dead. Like I could go days without seeing anyone say anything. Thirty plus people online and no one is saying a THING! Everyone’s in Discord. God I hate Discord.

My guild uses it to coordinate who is doing what, but then we use discord voice chat for other stuff.

In this instance you’re the one not being social, you have discoed available to socialise.

Discord is generally better.

Same here. I’m lonely as hell in every guild I join I don’t like to use discord I am uncomfortable with it. But these days it’s like the only way people will accept to communicate with others :expressionless: I am always the odd one out in groups cus of it.

All of the guilds I’m in use it all the time, along with Discord.

I don’t really like the guilds that use Discord either. On one end, sure, it can be handy for contact outside the game, but I feel as it it prevents chatting in-game too where I’m expecting to happen in guild stuff. I have to keep my game windowed to use Discord which can slow down my computer sometimes, and not only that, I don’t like joining random servers.

Ya know, discord has text chat?

I’m on Discord all day and never once do I speak nor hear anyone speak.

I agree with the OP it can be very hard to find a guild that actually uses typed chat. I try hard to find them and rarely succeed.

its easier to use voice chat so you don’t have to stop everything you are doing just to respond to some one asking a question or something.

my guild does use the guild chat quite a bit, but most of the action is on discord.

and guess what, i usually have music/tv/youtube, WoW, and Discord going all at the same time.

my guild used to use ventrillo, but someone created a discord, and while i was hesitant at first (because i dislike change, and vent was simple, while disc has more to it) I’ve grown to love it because i can switch between different servers much faster.

What makes you uncomfortable about discord?

…apparently you are not.

I have Autism and have huge trust issues and horrible communication. I am hugely uncomfortable talking to random strangers especially on an online gaming community? I can hardly speak on the phone to people I don’t know (doctors mail issues and anything really) anytime I get a call and Via voice mail am asked to call back for whatever reason I shake trying to make myself do it. And due to past issues I don’t wanna go into details about I am just not easy going about friendships real life wise. And talking on discord feels closer to that than game chatting. Everyone I play with tells me to use it but in all my years on games the only one who has made me comfortable enough to do it is my bff on wow of 8 years. And only we have done it once.

Idk what the hell is wrong with me tbh.

Typing in a chat to talk to people is easy but actually speaking to them in real life talk? That’s a whole other thing.

I don’t seem like the kind of person to even be playing an online game but wow is just to special to me now to give up. And as long as I don’t have to communicate via real life talking I am fine but unfortunately I wanna do mythics and some real content in Shadowlands I wasn’t able to do in BFA cus my computer was trash and couldn’t handle it I got a new one now but am still worried no one will want me to play with them cus I refuse to use discord.

I can relate to OP. I love when I ask a question in guild chat and 25 players are on and no one answers…seriously?! Actually my Alliance guide just got a new member and he’s quiet the fun troll chatterbox…im looking forward to him living up the green text!

I have similar issues at times although I’ve definitely grown past them to an extent in the last few years, I’ve always seen discord with a guild as anonymous.
