Seeking willing participants to assist with fan update of an Addon

What I am seeking Part 1:
As title states, I am in need of someone who is good at .LUA coding and willing to help update and maintain an add-on that has not been up-kept since 2010 by the original creator and Fan update since 2016.
I am and have never been nor had good experience with coding, it’s almost like french, german, and spanish to me. I see it, but don’t expect me to understand it. I can slightly modify minor details, but not good with the in-depth coding.

Seeking Part 2:
I am also seeking from anyone who would like to test and or use this add-on and provide some SS of your customized action bar setup using Btex along with your current wow resolution so that I can create more customized Skins. Your SS, settings, etc, and such will NOT be shared.

I have sent several private messages along with my personal email address to the original creator and to the previous fan update of the add-on and have not received any replies of any kind in a few weeks.

It is a UI skin that resides on the background of the action bar that can replace the default art bar. Nothing more then a cosmetic charm to the overall player’s screen. Check the above links for more information and the use of Btex located at Wowinterface

What I can offer.
I am more of a visual creator. I can make all kinds of the skins all day for the add-on (RL dependent ofc. I have a job and RL to tend to as well). I am more then willing to add additional skins and possibly in the future, player requests for customized skins.

What I have done:
I have done a simple version update in the TOC File as of right now and removed the Grid option in the .LUA. I did this due to it causing Interface and .LUA errors if tried to use. I have not yet had any problems with it since then.

Reason why I am asking for the above screenshots:
As I have previously stated, Btex is more then a few years out of date. Since the last original update in 2010, PC and console games along TV’s and PC monitors have blasted beyond the standard 4:3 1024 x 768 Resolutions.

Many people now play on wide (Ultra wide) monitors and or Smart 1k – 8k TVS. Which in turn with Btex, some if not many of the default skins may not look or align correctly with WoW and these multitudes of screen Resolutions. This will allow me to create and or update the custom skins with more optimal setups for these resolutions.

Participation Details:
In need of different resolutions screenshots that pertain to wide and ultra wide, 2K – 8K if possible.

I am happy to receive a PM with a link to your action bar screenshot from any Image sites if you are worried about sharing your own personal Action bar setup, etc… I will NOT ask for your action bar macro’s settings, etc… The SS will not be shared with the public without your personal permission. It will ONLY be used to create a blank template in which I can utilize for modern screen resolutions.

Additional Add-ons possibly needed for possible complete Skin customization:
If you use your own preferred add-ons, please state which ones.

Btex: Obvious for Custom skin background.
Goto wowinterface and do an addon search for Btex or Btex Fan Update 8.1
Bartender4: Ability to rearrange action bars, etc in a simple manner
Move Anything: Second option instead of bartender4 along with more detailed moving options
Chinchilla: Mini-map customization
Titan Panel: Placing most add-on icons to the Top / bottom bar instead of Mini-map clutter.

What I am needing if you decide to participate in the above:

Screenshot as previously mentioned.
Resolution used.
(If Used) Graphic scaling amount located in WoW system options
Which addons were used in the screenshot that ONLY pertain to the Btex Custom Test Skin
Provide SS for different classes if you have available.

Example:

Hunter, warlock and Death knight with pet bars
Shaman with totems
and any other custom setups of different classes

Installation of Btex can be found at Wowinterface with my latest update to the addon. Use the search box for Btex or Btex Fan Update 8.1

Use of Btex instructions:

Type /bx menu to load Btex in the chat box
Btex: I have included a solid color Skin for SS purposes.
Select “Test” from the drop down list and apply skin
change the default width (512) to adjust the skin accordingly to span completely across your game screen without causing the Red border of the skin disappear off screen.
Do NOT adjust the Height if possible. The Test skin is at default setting of 256 for editing purposes at this time until further editing of the .LUA can be done to accommodate this part.

Please try to keep all customization of the action bars and etc within the confines of the “test” custom skin.

I loved using this add-on many years ago because it was yet another way that I could create and add my own personal touch to my gaming experience, and which I would like to share with you all as well.

Add-ons and settings I used to achieve the following Custom skins.

55” 1K smart TV (Res. 1920X1080) Graphic scaling set to 100%.
Btex
Bartender4
Chinchilla
Titan Panel

I will be happy to take requests in the near future if I am to get assistance with updating this addon to be more compatible with modern resolutions and higher quality skins.

replace:

and i will fix that coding as well with btex and get it updated on wowinterface shortly…

Seems Blizzard doesnt like fast replies so I’m editing this reply for now until it lets me do otherwise.

tried what you suggested and got errors and btex addon did not load.

changed the codes using find and replace via notepad++ for any of the above ONLY in the grid overlay part that i had previously removed. WoW did not like it and disabled the addon.

LOL like i said, I honestly suck at coding. never been keen on it nor ever had good luck or successful experiences with it.

Delete (or go back to your code from the download file) and paste this at the bottom of the Btex.lua file (after the Slash Command code). Have fun.

Fizzlemizz, thank you very much and I absolutely appreciate the coding expertise corrections and posting, and the fact that you stepped up and took time to help me with this addon. I will add this information to the current version and run with it.

ok addon tested, grid works flawlessly, again tyvm Fizzlemizz. I will be sure to get Btex updated right now and include you for credit for fixing the grid overlay errors

BTW to any else who may read this post, I did not know that this forum does not use PM’s or anyway to chat in a personal way, only via public posts. So as far as part 2 goes with screenshots and anyone who decides to use Btex to provide me with different resolution options for skin templates, I will think of a way that they can be linked to me in one form or another. but for now, best option I can think of is by sending me a PM via Wowinterface. Same name there as here, Dyeslee.

I used to know a player that went by the name of Elfbane on the madoran server. And IIRC he also played a night elf priest. last time i talked to him via phone maaaaaany years ago, he was working on the quest chain for a legendary staff. I was wondering he and you might be the same person? He might have known me back then as Beawolf.
