10,000 gold a piece? I just looked at gold seller sites and gold is selling for $300 for 1000 gold right now on my server. If someone wants to spend $6,000 of their hard earned money on some imaginary weapons, be my guest. I find that completely unhinged.

You’d be surprised.
I think about 100% of the time I reported an obvious bot either a mage or a hunter they got banned and I got that little letter in the mail from customer service telling me they took action against the account.

Yeah that stuff is totally insane. I have seen this kind of behavior tho since vanilla. Back then I saw in 1.12 when transfers became enabled as a result also enabling people to re-name characters the business of buying geared characters in BWL+ loot for thousands; specially R14+ characters.
soon as transfers were a thing people did this and it really disgusted me because you could almost instantly tell they Ebay’d the character since they had no idea what do do in PVP.
This sort of thing is nothing new sadly, and coiners will always exist, really the only thing that can be done is to perma ban their entire battenet account for even the smallest gold / character / RMT purchase when confirmed that its real.
So long as blizzard is soft on RMT there will ALWAYS be problems with it.
Dual spec is a positive change for fresh.
