Going to turn in the quest to the Antediluvean Chest forces the character to zone into the new world quest zone in Uldum, I’m playing on my max level main and attempting to get some transmog and Loremaster progression on this toon. The chest is far enough that I can’t use a sprint potion or heroic leap to just quickly turn it in as I zone out of Tanaris once I’ve reached the room the chest is in. Any tips? I’d like to finish the quest line on this toon and not on a low level.

Figured it out, you have to talk to Zidormi in Uldum in order to complete this quest line!

Still having this phasing issue in 2023.
When Uldum is in BFA mode, the Cata-era quest is broken. I can confirm that talking to Zidormi in Ramkahen and turning Uldum back to Cata-era fixes this Tanaris quest.
