I know there was a blue post in ancient times that things were never discovered in vanilla. Has there been any recent confirmation if thats true, or if new secrets have been added for classic launch? That mystery of exploration is a huge draw and I’d be really curious to see (if there were secrets left uncovered) if they could be discovered this time around.

You can get Ashbringer but nobody knows how.
You have the cleanse the corrupted one somehow.
Chances are that since the game has been around for 15+ years that everything has been found-I’m sure that dataminers would have dug up any secret information by now.
I’d love to see myself being wrong though!
theres data packs though that cant be accessed without special keys so i would assume that those may be hidden things. Eg. Ashbringer may actually be something we can get but it may take SO MANY triggers that its not even funny like the mounts in modern wow. There could be things like atiesh where most servers didnt know HOW to get it untill PS or until they talked to the 1% who beat naxx. things like that maybe? could even be some loot drops that are like 'wow thats in files? never dropped tho and is attached to “MobXx1038109” whatever that is" But mobXx1038109 is actually refering to EVERYTHING EVER or even something like Find a way into the prison off the coast of STV and break in to find a specific naga you have to MC and it causes it to become MobXx0138109 for the MC duration or w.e.
The blue post youre refering to was the one that said 12 quests were never completed yes?
Yes! But it’s so old i wonder if it is still true, or if new secrets in tune with Vanilla philosophy have been added!
I think the word on Ashbringer is that it was never fully implemented, so what you see is what you get.
That said, the lore behind Ashbringer is actually quite amazing and fleshed out. Try following the lore in-game one of these days and you’ll see what I’m talking about. It’s been ages, but stuff like there being a person who got reduced to a blob by evil magic, etc., but when you go to that area of the game there actually is an out-of-place ooze mob roaming around. Things like that.
Those were things like faldirs cove quest and such; that wasnt completed until BC.
I always “dreamed” of server-side secrets/interactions, that once found would trigger an update for everyone with the required data.
If that was ever a thing in Vanilla, it probably isn’t on Classic.

You never know; they copied and pasted 1.12 data to new servers and simply edited everything that didnt copy and paste properly so if it was in 1.12 it may still be in game; But with that being the case it could also be removed; it could have been them taking the “Old school rpg” approach and having things that are “If you get it keep it cus its getting removed” like haunted memento for example; but NO ONE got them before for example patch 1.6 when the onyxian eye gem that teleports you to her cave was discovered or gotten because for lore reasons nefarian went and got it from his daughters home as a way of remembering her or something like that.

There was a lot of this kind of stuff in the old game. Tons of things that were really good ideas but just never made the dead line to get put into the live version or never got it to work without major bugs or in some cases the stuff they put in was just too powerful. Lot of cool things were just developer tools too that were never intended to be known in the real game but just to give Devs super powers with a toon to run around and test an area or a mob fight. There was a robe I saw a link to in TBC that had +100 of every stat on it and it was ilvled to Vanilla and tagged as a dropped item in the data mined stuff. No one ever saw such a thing on any live server.
You could always ask in the wow secrets discord. If there is something, I’m guessing they are working on it.
Does the secrets discord have a classic section? I haven’t been in there since the blood taming stuff in uldir.
That time they spent recreating hunters was actually putting ashbringer in the game as a hunter only weapon.
But back to the original question, does anyone know how to get a blue update on it? I cant even find the original blue post of legend any more.

EverQuest devs said the same thing when they created their own vanilla servers ( called TLP over there).
turns out a metric ton of quests / stuff was broken / lost in revamps or incomplete… but undiscovered? no so much.
Im hoping, cause even stuff like the SM corrupted Ashbringer event is super cool. And having more like that would be amazing.
