Does anyone else ever wish that with the coming of classic they would redo everything after?
I know it isnt possible. So, no need to tell me. But, it would just be so fantastic to see them undo all of the mistakes they made.
I do think vanilla/TBC/wotlk were okay. I would just remove a few things, and stop balancing class around arena.
But what would have happened if they didn't go completely to world of zerg to get purples class? What if they never implementes achievos and gear score? What if they never sundered azeroth, and skipped to stuff that was a local immediate threat?
I realize they would never ever go back and undo all the lore and stories. But, man, it would be so nice if they did. A girl can dream, right?
Anyway, I'm hoping to relive at least the first 5 glory years again. After that, I hope I have something better to do.

Honestly? Not really.
I'd prefer Blizzard break out of their e-sports shell and start doing TES-style RPGs set in the Warcraft universe.

If they were going to put that much time in to something, I would rather they just make something new.

Yes, op, except instead of retaining BC and Wotlk, I think they should reboot from Vanilla with original guiding principles. Namely, no flying mounts ever, no achievements ever, no easy leveling ever, etc. If you include BC and Wotlk, then you get things that degrade the game.

remove flying, remove heirlooms/nerfed leveling, remove homogenization (Go with say, BC style of class balance but buff ret paladins a little bit), and make wrath dungeons and raids not suck (ICC and Ulduar were okay, rest stank).

i just want wrath or mop servers. mop was my favorite expansion for character play, but i doubt there'd be enough interest to sustain a healthy population. wrath on the other hand...

wrath for all of its popularity is when the game really got watered down.
buffs and debuffs were condensed and spread across all classes.
dungeons and raids were made aoe tankable and cc wasn't really needed.
leveling was nerfed and heirlooms were added.
LFD was added and reputation tabards made any form of rep grind that wasn't doing dungeons inferior in every respect (Dailies were slower and less rewarding).
Despite having two great raids (ICC and Ulduar), every other raid was complete crap (Malygos, Sartharion, Naxx, the raid which shall not be named, and Ruby Sanctum).

i am unique among posters in this forum in that classic is not my favorite iteration of wow. there are expansions i much prefer over classic. i am excited for classic simply because it is better than anything that's come out in years. i don't necessarily grieve for the loss of community that convenience and cross-realm features brought on. i don't pine for things to be 2005 tedious for nostalgia's sake. as far as raids go, in my opinion, classic only had two decent raids as well. i do agree the dungeon situation in wrath was laughable. with all that said, i appreciate posters here feel differently than i do and i am happy they are finally get their classic wow wish.
* i also feel a push to support classic because if this is a financial success, maybe blizzard will eventually release TBC and wrath servers.

personally i think Burning Crusade was about the best it got. most hybrids did decent enough dps to warrant a spot, while still having the hybrid tax apply.
buffs still worked vanilla style instead of wrath style.
dungeons still required cc to do and were relevant all expansion long.
rep grinding, despite having dailies, was still something that took time.
the only crappy raids were mags lair (which most only did a few times) and hyjal (because most the bosses were a joke, including archimonde).
the obvious low point is flying. if flying had remained 60% only and was used for only getting to certain flight only areas it would have been better.
No. I'm not a millennial so I don't feel entitled to whatever I want.

my main problem with TBC is the way resilience affected crit and that greatly influenced which specs were viable in pvp. i think the stat improved as subsequent expansions were released. to be fair, i missed most of TBC; i did a pvp ladder grind in late classic and became burned out on wow for quite a while. i came back sometime in TBC, but i believe BT was already out by then.
i would also do away with arenas. period. end of discussion. and resilience
lol i haven't much argued against the inclusion of classic's more unsavory aspects, apart from perhaps taking a minor look at hybrid itemization. i recognize not everybody enjoys the same attributes that i do in a video game. resilience, flying, and arenas were major additions to wow and excluding them is no different than removing raids. i don't give a !@#$ about black temple, but hey, you might.

oh i'm just spit-balling my IDEAL expansion.
I would imagine they'd get decent people if they're making something new rather than another expansion.11/02/2018 04:58 AMPosted by NurdanAs great as it would be, I just don't trust Blizzard to write a compelling story anymore. Maybe if they got an entirely new crew to work on it while they kept their current people on BfA and its expansions.
Personally I wish they hadn't given up on Titan, I lost most of my interest in Overwatch after the first year.
Well we did save an alternate universe from literally everything (Ner'zhul never even created the Lich King). If they wanted a completely different story, they could start there.
Let's be honest though. Would they really fix anything? If anything, they'd opt to make it worse.

I was disappointed they weren't rebuilding the classic engine from the ground up.

See I like TBC, and flying didn't bother me in it. There was still plenty of PVP action. People who say flying ruined WPVP just never really world pvp'd.
Flying ruined:
Camping
If you wanted dynamic world pvp others didn't fly. Or, it allowed impromptu groups to group up and make a plan in a safe spot. Nothing wrong with this imo. But, I also came from two servers who arguably had the best WPVP this game has ever seen with massive storied campaigns.
Anyway.
Classic isn't my favorite, either. But it's a damn sight better than anything after wrath. Wrath, imo was the beginning of the end. 3.1 ruined wow. Gear score. REE. And even more welfare epics.
Resilience was great, imo. It didn't make some classes obsolete. It made pvp gear better for...pvp. Having just stam wasn't a good solution. And I think everyone can agree stat templates are trash.
It also gave a whole level of casual play that was viable. If I wanted to, I could BG the previous season's gear and hold my own and do very well in BGs. That isn't time gated, doesn't require a huge time commitment, and I could enjoy a more casual wow. Plus, I wouldn't be steamrolled by everyone in pvp gear. Let's face it, the extra stam wasn't really worth it.

Is it just me or is this one of the most repetitive forums in existence. The same exact things get posted every single day.

I can dig it.
If I had a magic wand and were the Lead Game Designer for Classic, my roadmap would be focused on keeping the player experience rooted in Azeroth and the struggle between Alliance and Horde. That means no magic portals or timeline shenanigans.
Open new lands like Northrend and introduce new races/classes that are logical.
Actually, I would skip the TBC content and go right to Northrend or some other location on Azeroth.
While Im at it, if any new races were to be introduced, I would exploit the lore and have Blood Elves go Horde and Alliance finally get High Elves before looking at other races.
No space goats. No pandas. No spaceships. No messy timeline parlor tricks.
