Secret Fish

I was doing a bit of AV last night on my alliance hunter and one of my kids noticed a little orb floating just above the ground with what I assume was a fish since the item was called “secret fish”.

I clicked on it and got a quest item fish that I can’t use yet because I don’t have fishing on that guy. As the match progressed I came across 2 others, both contained regular fish you get from fishing. Don’t remember their exact names but one I recognized from the Cataclysm.

What are these? I never saw them anywhere else. I thought maybe they were a nod to a common, yet annoying practice in vanilla AV where players would spend the match fishing rather than fighting.

Part of the quest for the hypercompressed ocean from Mechagon. You equip goggles and it makes those spawn.

There’s an achievement in mechagon that gives you fish finding goggles, if someone uses them they spawn those little fish bubbles. At certain places in the world special fish bubbles have a chance at spawning, collecting 1 of each special fish gets you the achievement that’s something like “secret fish and where to find them”, which awards the toy “hyper compressed ocean”.
