Secret Fish Goggles, what?

How does this work? I googled it but all I find is a list of where to “fish” for the rares on the list. I used the goggles and saw a floating globe and went to click on it, it said to collect the fish. I got nothing and it vanished after I clicked. Nothing in my bag, no fish crossed off the list. Then I saw another globe and went to it and it vanished before I could click it. Now the goggles are off me and it has an hour cooldown.

What?

There is a good wowhead thread about it, which I read. Find the one about doing the entire thing, not just the ones in Mechagon/wherever.

The way it works is you use the goggles, then look in the suggested area for those globes you mention. The key seems to be that the globe has to be “new”; As in, if you take too long to find it the thing seems to vanish/not have anything.

It took me a while to get the knack of it, being high enough in the water to see enough of the landscape that the globe might appear on, while being in an open enough area that you can see them for sure. Then I just kind of turned in a circle, until I saw a globe.

When you get the hang of it, you start getting them soon enough before they vanish. I’ve done it in several zones (after mechagon), getting several of the fish so far.

This eventually leads to that portable ocean thing.

Look at the highest rated thread topic( in the comments for that item), the guy summarizes the whole thing/strategies.

So even though it said to collect the fish I didn’t find it fast enough? I think it took me like 45 seconds or so to see it. I can tell right now this is going to be a very frustrating thing to do. And why in hell does it have an HOUR cooldown? That’s excessive. Honestly I don’t have that kind of time to waste.

There are definitely bugs with this as well. I found the Collectable Saltfin at the mines in the Heroic Arathi Battlefront despite not having the goggles at all.

It puts a buff on you that lasts a hour, the cool down means nothing unless you click off the buff. only have to click the goggles once a hour, if you click them a second time it removes the buff.

Ok wait, I didn’t click off the goggles but they vanished off my toon in less than five minutes. Now I’m even more confused. So let’s say I get the fish in that area and go to another, I just see the new bubble with the fish now or do I have to click something else?

turn up the volume, you will hear a water splash ever time fish bubble shows up. Like I said it put a buff on you that lasts 1 hour, even if you switch zones the buff stays and you will find more bubbles/fish.

Thank you, that helps a lot. It may seem silly but this thing is confusing in HOW you use it.

The buff lasts for an hour. You shouldn’t need anything less than an hour cooldown.

Using the goggles in areas that are relatively flat and open will help you see the fish better. If you use the monel-hardened stirrups, you should be able to collect the fish while mounted.

took me a while to under stand it, but once i figured it out I caught all but 3 fish in about 6 hours.

Check out the comments on wow head about it, some one put a long post on where to find fish, Go for the zone specific ones first, by the time you get all of them you will have caught most all of the others that appear anywhere. I had all but 3 by the time I caught them, 1 anywhere fish, the night time one and the mech alt reality one. There are even 4 fish you have to catch while dead and a ghost.

you click the orbs and you might get a rare fish - you can’t take too long to click the orb either or else it will just vanish.

try doing it in the proving grounds for an hour and you will get the hang of how things works and then you can go to the various places - some of those places 100% drop rate for the fish so that part usually goes fast.
