I wonder if it would be better if Blizzard never mentioned the patch, considering it’s a secret, and just released it whenever it was ready.
The rampant speculation is going to lead to disappointment. Maybe that’s purposeful and part of the experiment.

We’ve seen some of the laziest and worst patch content in WoW’s history with DF’s marketing centric roadmap. If anything I’m worried.

The hype died months ago.
I’m still looking forward to finding out what it is. I don’t mind that they chose to do it this way, I don’t mind that they still haven’t said anything about it. I actually like it. But for their sake, it better be a pretty big success, otherwise they’re going to get absolutely shredded.

It will be a Gilneas situation all over again.
This.

Eh, it’s weird. When I remember it’s a thing I have to stop my mind from wandering. My what ifs are just going to lead to some kind of disappointment.
I hope I’m wrong, but I feel like if it was something I’d be super excited for (like housing) it would have been attached to an xpac release. So it’s this weird middle ground of maybe dinar (also cool, but nearly worth the hype) and maybe a big pvp update (doesn’t affect me, but happy for that crowd).
Anyway, I still enjoy jamming some of this dungeon pool and still log in to do 8-12 dungeons a week.
I’m not dissing the event, but I’m more hyped for a night elf falling off something to their death than the event and that’s just the notion it might happen.
I’m not obsessed with Johnny Depp or pirates so this hidden pirate patch is a “meh” for me.
I might get excited if it also has a Shark Week theme. I’ve been begging for a Shark Week holiday for years.
What is there to be hyped about. Blizzard isn’t even dropping hints. It will probably end up being a 5 quest chain and some transmogs. All over in 30 minutes.

I’m curious, but not hyped.
I have a fairly narrow playstyle, so I feel like there’s a fairly high risk that whatever the content is, it won’t overlap with my interests. Combine that with the fact that recent content, especially untested content, has suffered from a lot of issues at their launch and my expectations are set fairly low.
(I also had to make some choices about some upcoming family plans and guessed wrong that it would go live this week)
But as always, I’ll see what I can make of it when it arrives.
The hype wore off a long time ago. And the disastrous launch of the Hearth Stone anniversary event makes me skeptical that they can pull off an untested patch without it being a giant mess.
So no. There is no hype left.

Max said it was a banger. Every content creator knows what it is now, so look at their reactions.
Nothing else for us peasants to glean until they formally announce it.
It’s designed for players of all levels and is supposed to be in classic to. Which means it’s probably going to be boring, rng based and buggy.

There’s a lot of talk about this patch yet there’s nothing, for me there’s as much hype as a game that’s been announced but has no visuals.
This patch exists at Blizzard, but that’s it.
Starting to hype for nothing is only going to increase my disappointment if the content doesn’t live up to my expectations, and given that the last patch was a disappointment, I have no reason to do so.
I’m enjoying the mystery…and watching GD squirm!
Same, except with WoWHead instead of Youtube.
