So, I know that Secondary Stat’s have breakpoints or whatever you call them where the value begins to have diminishing returns. I understand that is a thing but I don’t quite understand the exact math behind it.
Say a spec’s stat priority is as follows, using Ret Paladin’s according to several websites: Strength > Versatility > Critical Strike ~= Haste > Mastery
In theory, How bad would it be to make sure as many pieces of gear as possible has Vers on it and then get a mix of Crit and Haste while avoiding Mastery as much as possible?
I know the obvious/easy solution is to simply “sim” gear after every new piece but from a more casual player stance how bad would it be to just target as much vers as possible and then spread crit and haste?
From a casual perspective you should just equip whatever has the highest ilvl. If you get two pieces of the same ilvl try to follow your best stat priority.
Tier sets will shuffle your stats around enough to where you probably wont hit diminishing returns.
Using raidbots to sim gear is super easy, just use that if you want to min max beyond that
Mastery is a bit more tricky since the % of mastery you get for a given ammount of mastery is different for each spec. You can use an addon like “True stat values” to see how close you are to hitting diminishing returns.
